I don't aggressively shed hunt in the summer and fall because I transition into scouting and then into bow season. But you better believe that if I glass one up I am running over to pick it up.

The drawing will take place in mid April. I think sometime in May or June you can put your name on an alternate list to get any returned tags. Last year they all sold in the drawing and one would assume that would happen this year as well.

Not sure where you are at. But here in ND they just started dropping. Some will hang on into April every year.

You should get a confirmation e-mail. In that e-mail you can open a pdf of your group application which will have your party #. This is how it was for me anyways.

The meat will be good if it is taken care of as said above.

I haven't paid a ton of attention but I know after the winter and dry dry summer they were talking like the pheasants were way down. So I am guessing the sharptails are similar?

Not bad, few years back they had a tough time. They have been going back up now but this last years winter and this summers drought made it tough on them.

No experience in that country but if possible I would use your binocs on your tripod as well. Makes a huge difference! You will spot game with an ear flick because your binocs are rock solid whereas you'd never see it while free handing it.

This last weekend I was able to get my second archery muley. This is absolutely addicting to say the least. I spotted him with another smaller buck in the morning. I lost them several times throughout the morning only to find them again in the maze that is the badlands. Finally bedded them down...

Awesome! Good luck. I haven't spent anytime out that way but I am sure if you get away from the roads and get out before light and do some glassing you will certainly turn up some bucks.
