In AZ’s case, I think the cost (1 deer tag) was worth the benefit (~$400k-$700k) that mostly goes to conservation and is managed fairly well compared to some other states.

That is crazy, really doesn’t look like the same ram at all, kill photo looks much more massive and like he flares way out compared to the first posted photo where he looks like more of a compact curl with much less flair. I was low 150s on the first photo as well. Such an awesome ram.

Those are some tough hunts man, they have the whole disclaimer in the regs for the “limited opportunity” hunts. It means you opportunities to see and kill are expected to be slim, big areas with most of it very low animal density. Whole sections of the units look great and can have elk one year...

I love my Honda Pioneer 1000, but, my only complaint is the seat gets real warm from the engine. On cold days it’s great, on hot days it is too much if you are riding more than 20 minutes... Even with aftermarket heat shield it’s just a lot of heat…

Orange is not required in AZ, but we still usually all wear orange hats as a rational “don’t shoot me” device on the rifle hunts. Have never had any issues but also try and actively keep far away from other hunters.

A couple years ago many of the "authorized dealers" stopped being sent tags by game and fish and you have to go to the game and fish office itself alot of times. Kingman area is like that, so no tags can be bought on weekends or after hours etc.

Elk hunts have been great for us down here this year. I avoid crowds and ATVs like the plague, and so do the elk. :LOL:

What’s the budget? The more you’re able to spend the higher your odds get at being successful at true trophy class animals in a tight timeframe like this. Sounds like you may need to look towards Canada for deer and those other species and also Alaska for moose or sheep.

You could have scouted and turned the tag back in I guess if you didn’t like what you were seeing?
