So the state wants to exchange some state land for NF lands so they can build a dam. The state lands they are giving up are small parcels within the NF. How does that impact hunters? Looking at the map but not being local, all of the land seems to be huntable.

So say a guy had an elk tag for Ruidoso in September. With it being so dry do the elk move down to irrigated fields or do they stay At higher elevation where it’s more likely to get pop up thunderstorms?

If I look at the Casper Mt Snowtel station it is showing current snow water equivalent at 159% of median and preciptation at 110% of median. This is at 7900 ft and I am not really sure how close that is to your unit but it tells me they got quite a bit of snow this year compared to normal.

How about there for archery elk. Heading there mid September. Have a few spots picked out. Any places to avoid? Going to be staying 41 but plan on being mobile since its our 1st time to this area.

I picked up the refurb ED50 too. It came with a 16x wide lens for digiscoping which I am going to sell. The 13-30x eyepieces runs around $120 and the 13-40x closer to $200. I have been scanning the classifieds and just found a 13-40x which I picked up. For $400 its a nice light weight scope.
