Saw quite a few bucks last year during the ride hunt...I imagine antler growth shouldbe pretty good this year. Should be a fun hunt with a great chance at a really good buck!!

Finding any bulls?

Not really....never had the opportunity and didn't put in the prework before the season to pattern his behavior. He slipped through our camp, but were usually out of camp before first light. I was never in the right place at the right time. There were plenty of guys putting in the work before...

This particular buck escaped several accomplished archers on the front. Though many tried to keep him a secret he spent opening weekend in a highly traveled basin and would dissappear by the end of opening weekend. On several occasions he was lucky to slip through several archers on opening day...

Without ever spending any time in the unit and the time of year, it'll be tough locating good bulls. Make sure you're in a good position to glass before sun up & in the evening make sure you glass until you can't see. We found several bulls down low and at mid elevations. Started up high...

It was tough...super cold and windy...elk didn't move much during the daylight hours. Probably saw 5 to 12 bulls a day, but had mornings up at higher elevations where we didn't see any. Only saw one group of 15 cows and calves, and they were up around 9000ft. Had to take advantage of glassing...

Thank you I appreciate the response! We spend a ton of time behind the glass - pretty much much sun up to sun down. We've been fairly successful in Colorado the last few years and will be holding out till the end for something special. We anticipate the season will be at its best the last...
