Unit 55 / Valle Vidal Information
Bugling should be over. You might hear a few at sunrise but I wouldn't count on it although it seems like the rut has been starting later up in unit 53/55. as you know there are only two places to camp in the Vidal. You don't have to go far from camp ground to find elk. If the rut is over just... -

Go to Caracas Mesa (spelling ?) you should be able to get him a buck there. Last time I was there, there were a lot of wild horses in the area... Don't road hunt get out and do a little hiking deer should be on back side of ridges where road hunters can't see them. Good luck -

Leaving October 9th. Had awful time last year. We went the last 10 days of the bow season (9/12-9/22). They were not doing anything. The year before during the same time it was better they would bugle but not come to our calls... -

Can you direct me to the sage flats so I can go scout it out. I have not heard about any sage flats in this unit unless you are talking about the main road/highway leading to Colorado? Thanks for your help. -
