A local perspective on Cody area hunting

Good luck this year! Maybe you already know this, but possibly others don't. If you kill a wolf in the wilderness areas a person has 10 days after the day of the kill to get the wolf checked. Maybe knowing this might change if they was willing to shoot one during the hunt.

A local perspective on Cody area hunting

So I took your advice and watched it again even though it was very painful. 1. Numerous times he says the hunting is destroyed there. GONE 2. The only 3 solutions he suggests are a. that ranchers need to put electric fences around their property. This is strange to me because later he...

A local perspective on Cody area hunting

You are putting words in his mouth. You always say someone is ignorant about this or that if they don't agree with you. You resort to childish remarks and talking in circles. No sir I am not ignorant to this or the G H deer herd, but you are without a doubt very immature.

A local perspective on Cody area hunting

no that was not his complaint. His complaint was the elk are all but gone in the areas that are able to be hunted. If all the elk are gone and down on the ranches then that is where all the wolves would also be. His exact words, "the hunting has virtually been destroyed". He is full of SH!@...

A local perspective on Cody area hunting

I have hunted them a few times myself. One of my best buddies is a wolf killing machine. He has killed 3 and I was with him for one of them. We tracked the pack in the timber for about 2 hours and finally he was able to get a shot of and get 1. It was a extremely fun hunt!

This guy loves to hear himself talk. He along with others that love to preach doom and gloom all the time with little to no evidence or facts that support their opinion do nothing to help the hunters of Wyoming! So according to him most all the elk are on private ranches correct? Well wouldn't...

Muley Fanatics? Why the hate try 2....

Everything above is spot on imo. The last straw for me was when they chose to get in bed with WYOGA. As far as I am concerned anyone that supports and does business with WYOGA doesn't align with the way I think things should be ran in Wyoming.

    Judging muley's

yes if you are including the mass measurements along with the G-4's with that it sure does push that number up. Of course you now are also using right at 50% off all the measurements. I just have never broke them down that way. I guess it is just a matter of how you look at it.

    Judging muley's

olican by big buck lets say you are referring to a 190" 190x60%= 114" 114/3= 38" I have never heard of a deer that measures 38" on their main beams and inside spread. big fronts are very important as the usually account for about 40% of a deer's score in just those 3 measurements out of a...

    Couple observations from western Wyoming

I had a great summer glassing as always and also a great hunt. My son was able to take a beautiful buck I had scouted this year while I watched him put on a solo stalk on him from the spotting scope. I am still after my target buck, he seems to have figured out just when to go into hiding, but...

    Region G & H Down this Year?

Been out 2 times this year so far. 1st just a morning and seen 26 bucks. 3 of them probably over the 160" mark but not much more. Out of the 26 I think at least 10 of them were at least 3.5 years old 2nd time out 2 mornings and an evening. about 30 bucks. 3 of them at or over 170" mark with...

    Coyote trapping Crandell Wy

LAST EDITED ON Jul-13-19 AT 07:35PM (MST)[p]I would be shocked if you get hardly anything for them that time of year. If you are interested getting top money you need to check into NAFA for all your pelts. You do know that you have to have a fur bearers license to trap them right? You also...

    Non-res OTC opportunities?

Yes yotes are a predator state wide and you do not need a license to shoot them. You also do not need to even pick them up if you don't want to. Where you will be hunting wolves are also a predator and you would also not even need a license to shoot them, although you would have to report the...

Large Fires in Wyo G and H

I really fear that this one on the rim right now is going to be put out by the cliffs of the winds! I hope that isn't the case and I know those firefighter are working their A$* off to take care of it but with the weather being predicted it is going to be tough for them to get a handle on it...

Large Fires in Wyo G and H

good to know. I had heard from someone I knew that was hunting towards the head of the south fork that they needed to bail out of the on the 16th I believe. They must have been just being extra cautious which was a good thing. It is crazy to think of all the bad weather we have had for the...

Large Fires in Wyo G and H

Rocky I am pretty sure most of the head of the south fork was torched already. My understanding is if a person was to draw a line from say the head of cascade creek to deadman somewhere right in the middle of that is where is originated.

Large Fires in Wyo G and H

I agree I understand that most can not comprehend just how bad this is and how fast it is moving. I would have probably been the same way had I not seen it first hand and also had so many people I know also have up close encounters with this. I am telling you the closures are there for a...

    Bears and Wolves

Just to add a little to what Horse Creek already said about the elk population in that area... Last year I killed a cow in the evening within 300 yards of where the pack was that morning. We killed wolves in the morning and elk in the evening! It was an epic day to say the least!!!

yup dead on roadrunner. I didn't mean to suggest that the equation I gave was used to determine KE. Although I do see how reading it does lead you to believe just that. I was simply trying to show there are 2 factors that go into the energy of a bullet. Your post did a much better job of...

    Will it go 180"?

I have him at 177". He is a very cool buck, and that left eyegaurd just may carry an extra inch or 2 when he is hard horned! Very cool buck to have that small of an inside spread credit but still be very close to a clean 180" 4x4!

    Best Elk Hunt For $5,000

Best advise you received is in post number 2! Wyoming General elk tag is a great bang for your buck and be done for way under $5000 if he is a hunter and doesn't need to be guided. If you spend any time at all in the mountains in Wyoming, know how to hunt elk, and are willing to get a few miles...

    30" bucks

Nice bucks... Bottom buck 178" Top buck much less. Great set of bucks for this discussion. I would shoot the bottom buck every time if having to pick between the 2. Some maybe even most other people would shoot the wide buck.

    Decent buck

Great to hear about your hunt last year. That one will stand out in your mind forever. Just curious what angle would you say the shooter was at when she took the shot? It looked like the bullet hit right in line with the deer's neck if it was a perfectly broadside shot... I was thinking...
