South side of CR 4 is pretty good for lopes, there are some spur roads that take off to the south. The further west you go on CR 4 you will run in to thicker Cedar trees. Very few goats in those tree's but can hold some older age class animals.

I drew the deer tag up there as well so maybe we will run in to each other. Goal is to use the deer hunt to look for elk and have a potential to find a good buck.

I cashed 20 points in and drew 61 early. I as well tired of chasing unit 2. I live in unit 61 so hopefully we can turn up a good one.

I have hunted 2,201 three times now and have a tag this year as well. If you hold out, cover a bunch of miles you should expect to have a chance at an 80+ goat. Or you might run in to one right out the gate opening day! It's a solid unit so don't let everybody get you down on it. Lets face it...

Take a look at what Garth Carter and his son Jason killed in there and it will tell you. That unit has some of the best genetics in the world. Not that i condone the guy but Mike Brownlee " Muley Connection " runs hunts out of there, look him up.

I would say it is not a migratory dependent unit at all, in fact most of the bucks I used to kill in Muzzy season were down in the Cedars and Junipers, I live in unit 30 and hunted it for 20 years. The amount of big bucks 180" + are WAY down, so this has had me move on to bigger better things...
