Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website and facebook, all of the good sized and trophy quality animals come off private ranches in 18. They overhunt their concession considerably and you will likely come away with a small raghorn bull at best.

That is not hunting, that is simply called shooting, the same thing you would do at the gun range. Not good for our sport.

I killed a wolf last friday at around 7000 feet in about 4 inches of snow. He was just running ridges way up high.

The highest elevation in the area is around 8000 ft. I am wondering if the bigger bulls will try to hang out in the higher elevations after the rut is all over.

Yeah I was thinking more on the quantitative side of things. Take an otc elk tag for example. If you look at some units, and you do the math, the average number of days hunted per bull taken can but 30, 40 or even around 50 days hunted. Do you think that means much? Especially for an otc...

Just wanting to know peoples thoughts on figuring success for an area. Do you think that taking the total number days hunted in the unit and dividing it by the animals harvested, to see how many average days were hunted per animal taken, is a good way for figuring how succesful an area is?

Hunted this last year, lots of crab claw 20 inch four points running around, gets a lot better at the very tail end of season if it turns cold or gets some weather.
