It is not looking good for us. Just one general deer tag. How do we know when they are totally done and if I should give up home and get over it?

Looks like we might be in for some rain in parts of the State for the LE any weapon elk opener. In all my years hunting elk in the rut, I haven't come across much rain. Anyone have any advice for hunting in the rain? Does the rain slow the rutting activity down much? I assume right after it...

@HorseCreek I agree with you about hunting the middle of the day but wanted to hear how you hunt it during the day. Obviously glassing becomes less effective. What are your mid day tactics if you are say on a LE Elk hunt this next week and it is the middle of the day?

We hunted the manti last year at the same time of year and I agree that as the rut picks up they will start being out more in the day. That being said, mid day they will be in the pines. Every evening we would watch them trickle out of the thick stuff and come out into the meadows or quakies...
