There are deer in any unit that has a hunt. Check out the harvest reports.

    Greater Idaho

I will always oppose this idea solely because I know that part of Oregon does not have enough big game to warrant allowing all those OR hunters to all of a sudden get into the Idaho resident pool. No other factor would play into my thinking other than resident hunting pools.

Fish and Game aerial count disclosure?

I assume your best bet is to figure out the name of the area biologist, then using their standard email format (first.last@______) try that for direct contact. At last resort, you can become their pain in the ass and file something in writing to their PO Box and call it a Public Records Request...

How bad does it have to get

As a long time resident I don’t have any problem with the way things are at this moment. We manage for opportunity and all I care about are my youth opportunities. And I agree idaho residents have it good but we need to shift a bit more toward quality and better age class when it comes to mule...

How bad does it have to get

Re herds: Let’s start with controlled deer hunt 1068. 2000 tags for either sex deer in units 39 and 43 and the dates coincide w the general hunt. Why are we letting adults kill does in those two units? Same with hunt 1061. 250 antlerless deer tags in unit 44. Why? Is it opportunity? or truly...

How bad does it have to get

Reduce NR tags, no more general tags, and create point system for them. For NR and Resident controlled antlered hunts - longer waiting periods if you draw (2years) and even longer if you harvest (3years). For mule deer - No doe or either sex hunting except for youth - period. For every...

    2 nd draw results when??

Last year was the 24th. Would be nice if it was This Friday though.

    It's Started!!

With it being random, it becomes pretty simple mathematics. For every person that draws a 5% tag once every 20 years (the average), there will be a standard deviation on either side, so extreme that some in the sample will draw 3 tags in 20 years and some won’t draw in 60 years. But the fact is...

    It's Started!!

22 years = average number of years required to draw a tag with 4-5% odds. Not with 3 chances tho. That sucks!

    It's Started!!

Not in Utah if you are a new, young hunter, or you are mentoring a child or youth. They may literally never draw. In Idaho at least there is always a chance. My family went 0-9. But extended family has a deer and Antelope tag that I will be able to join.

    Super Tag results posted.

With all the apps, let’s hope IDFG is able to secure more, and more productive private lands in the Access Yes. Maybe even a property or two that have water on them and not fields of dirt and weeds.

Tick tock when will the draws post

I’m a resident and don’t want a point system, but I’m also pretty sure the way they do the nonresident “waiting room” elk tag thing in December is the stupidest thing known to man. Who in their right mind thought that picking a business day at 10a for thousands of people to get a number and wait...

    Idaho Sawtooth Planning

I hunt 43 on occasion. Many of the locals in the Pine/Featherville area will tell you that the winter of 2017 was brutal for deer. Your best bet is to get on your maps and look at the ATV trails and look at the single track only and decide where you want to try. I have found in Idaho that...

    GIANT idaho unit 45 deer

45 has quality animals on private land. If you have connections with Larry Williams of Tree Top Ranches then you are in business. There a few other landowners also. Otherwise, just like many Idaho units, if you hunt the public you get the scraps. That’s how it goes.

There are still some available from the 12th though (not diamond A): https://idfg.idaho.gov/tag/quota-resident As for me, my Sawtooth B tag is in the mail, as I was fortunate to score online this afternoon with a line number in the high 800s. I have no idea how many ended up in the line.

Draw results/ where is the excitement!!!

If the tags are being actually filled by youth, then I see no problem with it. If adults are pulling the trigger, that’s a problem.
  39. D

Draw results/ where is the excitement!!!

I could understand that, but I bet like other states that Idaho apps will be up this year. As far as better hunting experiences - unless you have the big bucks, there aren’t that many places in the west where a person can hunt antlered animals without years of applying or getting lucky.

Draw results/ where is the excitement!!!

You get to a certain point where if all you think about is draw results then April-July can get a little depressing! Better to just wait for the emails now.
