    PP/BP or random

As a resident. Keep preference points for moose and sheep. Im interested in the idea of keeping preference points but stop selling them. But I don’t know what all that would bring on. Keep it random for everything else.

Studies that show predation is not just weak and sick

Confirmed bear. Agreed dogs can be hard on them too though. But I’ve seen surplus killing from bear, wolves, lion, and coyotes.

Studies that show predation is not just weak and sick

Perhaps this happens at times, but when they are strung out all over a fairly large area it is obvious this is not the case. In addition it is pretty easy to differentiate between animals killed by suffocating or blunt trauma compared to puncture and ripping wounds from teeth and claws.

Studies that show predation is not just weak and sick

I’ve seen surplus killing of livestock multiple times. It certainly isn’t every time a predator kills livestock, but I wouldn’t call it rare. Compared to wildlife livestock probably does count as weak and easy. So there is that component.

    Red Desert?

I’m not going to argue about total numbers compared to last year. The point is at least in the three units Ive spent a decent amount of time in. (And I’m not talking about driving the highways). There is reason for hope. Fawns, bucks, does, all over the place and lots of feed. Given half a...

    Red Desert?

Just spent a few days out here again. Quite a few antelope. Saw a couple herds of 30+ animals. Smaller groups were common. I saw quite a few fawns including twins. I’m not pretending this is a scientific study, but antelope of most age classes were there and not hard to find.

How long until Big Horns full of Griz?

There was a confirmed grizzly near Gebo between Worland and Thermopolis earlier this spring. Video was on Facebook. I don’t know about full of grizz but it seems inevitable that one or some will get to the bighorns.

    Red Desert?

I was out on the sweetwater and Oregon trail potion today near Oregon Buttes and continental peak. Very green and wet. I saw a decent amount of antelope including some fawns. Was a lot better than I was expecting. Not saying this is anything but a very casual observation but I was encouraged.

    Haystack deer deaths

I’m going to have to tell all the deer I see in alfalfa fields all year that they are starving.? As stated above it’s the abrupt change ( even worse when already starving) and perhaps mule deer are more sensitive to an abrupt change, but all ruminants and horses can have problems with rapid...

How the task force is currently working

I don’t think G&F wants it because non resident tags bring in lots more cash. Audio wasn’t great but I thought I heard Nesvik saying how it’ll be hard to give residents a head start on the left over tags. Anyone really believe that? If that is the case they need some new folks running the...

    WY TASK FORCE PODCAST

For my fellow residents, don’t view the wilderness rule as just outfitter welfare. It’s a pretty nice perk for the the diy resident hunter wanting to hunt wilderness areas. Get rid of it and there will be a lot more rigs at the trailheads. We are not the only state that has special hunting...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

I like the wilderness law. As a resident it’s a great perk. Just like 90/10 get back to me when you lobby for alaska to let me hunt all it’s species without a guide. Pretty sure the dakotas have some hunts closed to non residents.

    WY license revenue

I can’t hunt sheep, goat, or grizzly in Alaska without a guide. I also said nothing about wilderness areas in other states. States treat non residents different than their residents. As a Wyoming resident I get perks, just like an Alaskan resident does. I’m pretty sure there are different...

    WY license revenue

I’m another resident that wants to see the 90/10 split. And while the non residents are in a tail spin over that I’ll also contact legislators and who ever else to keep the wilderness rule. Yeah the outfitters wanted it for welfare and it has nothing to do with safety, but it’s a nice perk for...

    Grizzly kill on Reservation

The poaching and wanton waste that occurs on and around this Rez is unbelievable, unless you’ve seen it. Even Sports afield had a feature article on it awhile back. And all the crime is blamed on whites. Even the non hunting crime. Yes they have horrible crime and yes it’s especially bad...

    Hunter Management Area

I would say if hunting anywhere near one it would be a little short sighted not to get one no matter what. My warden friend ( cody office) explains about public land drawn inside an hma: “we sometimes will show boundaries on public lands included in an hma because it’s easier than marking...

    Hunter Management Area

Just asked a game warden friend of mine who handles hms and wias. Anything you can get to legally you do not have to have a permission slip. Those lands might sometimes be drawn in the boundaries and they might be hard to id without gps or something but if you can get to it legally and it’s...

    Non resident in wilderness

It’s pretty sad when non residents whine about not getting enough wyoming tags, nevermind we currently give more % than most western states, then they start considering how they’ll break our laws when they draw a tag. I wonder how that attitude will impact resident support for less non resident...
