Colorado 12 NR points for Mule Deer

I meant to ask about Unit 6 3rd or 4th season above, not Unit 3. He's only able to hunt 3rd season this year. And I don't think the terrain in unit 66, or 67 would suit him. I'll likely try to burn my own points in one of those unit next year.

Colorado 12 NR points for Mule Deer

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town and away from my computer. Yes, Unit 22 3rd season took 10 points to draw last year. I'm thinking (hoping) his 12 points would be just enough to draw this year, but when I look at 4th season taking 19 points to draw last year, I'm likely being overly...

Anyone with experience hunting Unit 6 third or fourth season?

Cool. My dad is 74 with a bad knee and he lives at sea level, so I feel like an enjoyable hunt for him limits my options more than I'd prefer if we were just looking for a quality buck.

Anyone with experience hunting Unit 6 third or fourth season?

I’m considering having my dad use his points in Unit 6 this year. I’m looking for some input on deer numbers, hunting pressure, and topography. Thanks!

Colorado 12 NR points for Mule Deer

My 74 year old dad is a nonresident and has managed to accumulate 12 deer points in Colorado. We are looking at some 3rd season hunts to burn his points on this year. A few years ago he had a touch of altitude sickness on an elk hunt, so I try to keep him below 10,000 ft. He also has a knee...

Link to bill that limits nonresident tags for 2022

Wyoming already requires an outfitter for all federally designated Wilderness, which is precisely why I don't put in for elk tags there. I enjoy hunting Wilderness, but am a DIY type. Couldn't realistically afford an outfitter if I wanted one. Would be interesting to see what would happen if...

Unit 15 Youth Muzzy Deer Hunt

We are nonresidents coming from Colorado. My 10 year old wants to embark on her first mule deer hunt this year, but she has to wait until she's 12 here in Colorado. New Mexico seems like a fun adventure type trip, with the opportunity to potentially kill or at least see some nice deer, and...

Unit 15 Youth Muzzy Deer Hunt

Are we likely to see deer and elk a few times a day to help keep the kids engaged? Hiking, backpacking, and even remote camping are doable with them. But I don't know that the younger one has the patience for a "needle in a haystack" type hunt, where you're lucky to see a single deer. We will...

Unit 15 Youth Muzzy Deer Hunt

Does anyone have experience with the Unit 15 Youth Muzzleloader hunt for deer in Unit 15? I'm considering putting my two daughters (10 and 12) in for it, but would love some information to decide if it's the right opportunity for them.

    Colorado GMUs 22 or 30, 3rd Season

I have no doubt a unit 18 or 28 fourth season tag can be a good tag to have. I also know that tag takes 1 to 2 NR preference points to draw. If my dad?s knee holds up, he might be able to draw that tag in a few years after using his current points. But he will never have 9 points again. I just...

    Colorado GMUs 22 or 30, 3rd Season

LAST EDITED ON Jan-05-18 AT 02:27PM (MST)[p]My 72 year old dad has accumulated 9 NR preference points for deer. I posted in the Mule Deer forum but thought I might get more useful info here as well. He usually just goes on a cow elk hunt with me every year, but his knee has started acting up...

Colorado GMU recommendations for 72 year old dad's hunt

Yeah, I have no intention of burning his points on a hunt in GMU 18 or 28, though I personally intend to hunt those units, along with a few others, once I burn my own stockpile of points here in a few years. I've hunted on 2nd choice and leftover tags every year since moving to Colorado, but...

Colorado GMU recommendations for 72 year old dad's hunt

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I had GoHunt for a bit and used it to look at draw odds, trophy potential, etc for his points. My research lined up with what everyone is saying, namely that my dad's in no man's land, that deer numbers and quality have dropped dramatically when weighed...

Colorado GMU recommendations for 72 year old dad's hunt

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-17 AT 03:16PM (MST)[p]Long time listener, first time caller. My dad has built up 9 nonresident preference points for deer in Colorado. Over the last year or so his knee has started to bother him and I think it's time to cash in those points before something happens and he...
