1st Pronghorn Buck, courtesy of WY :)

Just wanted to share my 1st pronghorn buck I've ever harvested with everyone. Scored right at 70". Pretty pumped and will enjoy some tasty pronghorn stakes. Thank you Wyoming for the memories! Can't wait to get another shot, in the future, at hopefully a bigger buck! :*

    Nevada Chukar Forecast

I'm down in So/Cntrl NV. It seems to me the chukar populations are a little down from last year...or they are spread out a little more? Birds are definitely exacting their revenge this year, as compared to last year. }> Being a newbie (2nd year) to chukar hunting, do they form larger...

    SD Pheasant 2017

Got back from my pheasant hunt at Olsen's Pheasant Phun (http://www.pheasantphun.com/). This was my first time pheasant hunting and we spent the weekend with them. We had an amazing time! We were able to limit both days and had excellent weather. Wonderful hospitality, great guides, lots of...

    Grizzly Question

I'd tell him keep his situational awareness of his surrounds on point, keep a clean camp, and keep all food and good smelling stuff out of their tent and separated at night. Be especially careful around really thick areas where visibility is severely limited. The only time I'd be "loud" would...

Does it really matter what brand bowstring?

I ended up going with VT VTX strings. So far, so good. Thanks for the suggestions...gave me a lot of brands to look up reviews on. A local vendor delt with VT and America's Best, so I went with VT.

Are You Kidding Me??? (My Goat Hunt Story)

LAST EDITED ON Oct-24-17 AT 12:18PM (MST)[p]LAST EDITED ON Oct-24-17 AT 12:16?PM (MST) Welcome to hunting mountain goats in the lower 48. That is why I refuse to hunt them in the Lower 48...they are too habituated to humans since they are rarely hunted. I will only hunt them in Alaska or...

Also looking at America's Best, VaporTrail, and Octane. But I am not married to any, just curious what other folks are using and their experiences. Thank you, in advance for your experiences and recommendations! :D

Does it really matter what brand bowstring?

I'm looking to replace my bowstring on my Bowtech RPM360. Does it really matter which brand of bowstring I choose? I hear a lot about Winner's choice, Zebra, Stone Mountain, etc... but not sure what the "quality" difference is. What do you archery fanatics think? Cheers!

    Sort of like the Revenant..

Holy S**t, yikes! Interested to hear the full story, when it comes out. That guy is a lucky man. I'm praying he makes a full recovery and does not have too much PTSD when afield after something like that! Wow!

dall sheep mounts that turned out well???

I'm a sucker for wall pedestal mounts! They are amazing. Had one of my whitetails and my Dall sheep (not a monster in most books) done this way. I think they turned out great! Love how snow white the Dall is!

    Favorite backpack hunting foods???

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-17 AT 11:03PM (MST)[p]Lunch Only: Per day, I like to have about 2 Cliff Builder Bars (Mint, Chocolate, &/or Almond) or ProBar meal bars (chocolate Coconut,KokaMoca, etc...) with maybe a couple pieces of candy (chocolate, laffytaffy, etc...) as 'morale food'. I also like...

    Aging Big Game Meat

I do like to age the animals I harvest. Other than 'anecdotally' getting more tender meat, it allows me to take my time and work around my work/life schedule and/or wait for a weekend. I do not have a walk in cooler, however, I have a spare chest freezer and I purchased a 'Johnson Freezer...

    Wasilla hunting

Moose (all over the place) and caribou (talkeetnas are the closest herd) are not too far, but you would have to draw for it. For moose, since you are a non-res, only "trophy" moose are legal. Deer are on the coast and not really that close to Wasilla.

    Crazy Cactus'ish Archery Muley

Hey folks, so my wish came true for a 'meat-buck' muley this year with archery equipment. As you can see, he is a main-frame spike/fork with lots of stickers/drops. Someone said he was a Cactus buck, which to me, sounds very plausible, barring some genetic or injury. I aged him out at 4 or 5...

    Crazy 'Cactus' Archery Buck

So I managed to fulfill my wishes for a meat buck this year with archery equipment. As you can see, he is a mainframe spike/fork with thick bases and lots of stickers/drops. I aged him at 4 to 5 1/2 years old, judging by tooth wear. I was told this was a "Low-T" phenomenon. What do...

    What's the best waders?

I lived in Alaska for about 6 years and when I and other locals would go moose hunting, we would use the Lacrosse Big Chief hip waders. Really all you need....unless weight is an issue, then Barneys Sports Chalet sells some very nice overboots (Neos Sourdough) that would suffice. You will...

    August 2017 DIY drop caribou

Have you looked into DIY'ing the Taylor Hwy (Registration RC860). It's only a registration hunt and I remember seeing lots of racks coming from there when I lived in Copper River Basin, during the open season up there. I wouldn't think you'd need a transporter for that hunt...unless your...

Drew Late Rifle 221-223 Need Help

HuntDeep, if you haven't already, check out the NDOW hunt information sheet for that area, it basically tells you where the deer winter, may be able to catch one moving through that 'type' of area. Youth tag 241

ReelGame, I drew the area 24 tag last year and was able to track down a very nice buck. I say let your daughter decide what she wants, being her first big game hunt. I would let her know that this is a "trophy" area and what that means, but if she takes a liking to a 130 class buck, I...
