Non Res tags, how does it all work ???

Buddy is at 38,000. What a joke. Just do all NR as a draw. What’s the difference anyway. At least with a draw you don’t force a guy to take off work to get randomly placed in a “waiting room” that has over 30k already. Problem now is folks that get in early don’t see their precious tag so they...

    White eye puss on elk?

I saw the same thing on the bull I took last Wednesday. I think I’ve seen it before, but don’t recall what it is. Curious if nobody has an answer. Possibly a tear duct opening up after dying or some thing like that???

WA State Selkirk Unit - GMU 113

Whoa, hey Drs, this is a really old string you resurrected! I just noticed! But thanks anyway, always good to remember old hunts and buddies I haven’t hunted with for a very long time. Good times ?

WA State Selkirk Unit - GMU 113

Killed my very first elk in 113 almost 25 years ago. Feels like an eternity. Had a cow tag at the time and a college buddy an I hunted our arses off for days. Saw one elk and I killed it. Perseverance and blind luck is what that took. Good thing back then we were too stupid to quit…still thought...

    WOLF ACTIVITY

Unit 22 during elk season, pack of 7 tracks located around Calamity Meadows and one gigantic single track going over the top towards Cow creek/Rush Creek. Had fresh snow, so pretty obvious. Go get’em, ain’t hardly any elk left up there and they can’t be helping. Good luck!

    10a die off feedback question

Losses on Unit 8 appear significant as well. I’m seeing far less deer now than early summer. I’m in the Viola area. Know of at least a dozen dead on south side of Moscow Mt. Kamiak Butte just across border on Palouse lost a lot too, so I assume it’s quite wide spread in 8 and probably 8a too...

    Wyoming Disabled deer hunt help

HI All, I have very good hunting partner that has been diagnosed with ALS and he would like to plan a hunt for next season for mule deer in Wyoming. We've been planning a group Muley hunt for years and he should have about 12 or 13pp, sadly, no more time for him to build points. With the unknown...

ISB Controlled Hunt Second Chance Proposal

I see the only benefit is to give the people that actually applied for the tag a second crack at it. But remember how they used to do it... Wasn't it just a free for all first come first served sale of leftover tags? Complaints from that resulted in the second draw, then followed by open sale...

    Mule deer

Sorry, I know... differnt place different time... but I'm one of those dads that has taken my daughter out hunting and killed does. I sure as heck DO hope it helps make her into a life long hunter. I understand some guys don't do things the right way, but some of us do. And IFF the deer herd can...

    Unit 18 archery elk

What Arrow said! The early archery in there is nice as the elk will not have been pushed to the end of the earth. You've already been up into some good areas that are worth some time. Elk in both areas, just need to find them. The road systems up there will dictate where you hunt, unless you...

    Selway unit B tag

Eppi, yes, do go to the F&G web site. There really is a lot of information there for you. Including harvest stats for all those Panhandle units. Not sure that area you are looking at will hold a lot of elk, but if you have fam in the area it might still be worth it. For next year... Hells is...

PNWbuck... I see you also made it to the bottom of that link... One thing got my attention maybe you too... the very last line... What the hell is a Nursing Home Fishing Permit for??? LOL :-) F&G making money anyplace they can i guess.

Controlled hunt bonus / preference points

JBloom, thanks for the link... interesting. Not a fan of points in any shape, form or fashion. If you increase the opportunity for one guy you reduce the opportunity for someone else. I do favor waiting periods like is in place now... and would be in favor of extending the wait. Yes, that is...

you gotta find 2 poles and make a drag system and pull that sucka outta there as fast as you can! :-) sorry, couldn't resist! Buddy's Goat Tag

I'm almost 50 now and certainly feel things the next morning even now. At 65 I can only hope my knees are still with me. Biggest thing I'd suggest... if you are planning a long hunt pace yourself. Don?t go out on day 1 looking for a grand slam... if you kill yourself right outta gate it will...

    Selway unit B tag

Tying two poles together and drag it out??? Now that's seriously funny chit right there, I don't care who you are:-) Only reason you'd do that with a person is cause you can't cut him up into itty bitty pieces to carry him out! Tsnow?s Got it right... listen to him. I'd recommend hunting with a...

    Resident Elk Tag Quotas

IDHunter... Unit 18 elk, it does happen... But yeah, none of them have over 1K tags to play with, I get it. Resident Elk Tag Quotas

I still don't understand the reasoning to create a race for a limited amount of tags when we have a complete system already in place to fairly distribute these tags through a random drawing. Maybe I'm just being dense, but what is the problem with more LE units in the drawing system? If you...

    Elk damage payout exceeds $1million!!

OldHorn, 100% agree... Unit 22 same thing. Over the past 3 years they've significantly cut the elk herd with essentially unlimited cow hunts. I think i recall somewhere they are cutting the herd by nearly 50%. All to appease the farmers that complain. Making what was once a pretty dang good...

    Antelope 32, 73, 81, 87?

hunted 73 in 2016. Had a good time. Plenty of animals to look over and lots of cookie cutter bucks in the 12-13 inch range. It was difficult to find anything much bigger but if you put some time in you likely will. Probably a lot like most of Wyoming... I'd say between the 4 of us hunting we saw...

New rule for capped zone tag sales

This seems like it's mostly a Sawtooth unit issue. How many of the other capped zones sell out in minutes? Maybe Beaverhead?? Looks like of the 14 capped zones 6 of those didn't even sell out. Weiser zone has something like 4K tags allotted... it took months for those to sell out. to be honest...

    Lake Pend Oreille

You bet they eat Kokanee...Guys up there like to troll "flies" that really look a lot like an over grown bucktail. They often fish them a lot like salmon on the coast with flashers/dodgers on down riggers. if it's cold they'll fish up higher and use planer boards. Here's a good article for...

    Lake Pend Oreille

Yes, they are still catching large Rainbows up there. But the fishery has been up and down in the recent years. Worries of low kokanee numbers (primary food for big rainbows) is always a concern. First predation from Lake Trout, and now from a growing population of walleye in the lake have...

    Idaho- over the counter opportunity
