Wyoming G and H non resident tags cut again

For NR, Wyoming looks at your first choice and applies preference points. Those that don't draw on preference points then get thrown into the random draw tag portion. Then after a few of those lucky ones get drawn, your second choice will then be looked at. Usually not much left by the time...

Wyoming G and H non resident tags cut again

A good podcast by Robby Denning with Jeff Short southwest WY G&F biologist on antler point restrictions from last summer. Short term is ok but their are no long term benefits to 4pt restrictions. https://www.rokslide.com/antler-point-restrictions-with-wyo-bio-jeff-short/ It'll firmly protect...

    Looking For Recommendations in Wyoming

Yup.... Only took the Wyoming Range deer herd 20 yrs (2013) to get back up to the mid 30,000 level after the 1993 winter where it stayed till this last winter. That was after it was over 50,000. Above average winters every 5 to 6 years or so knocks them back down, then dry years, wet years...

    Looking For Recommendations in Wyoming

If your hoping to hunt a rebound in the number of bucks in an older age class in western Wyoming than you need to project the years out to 28, 29,or 2030 and hope for no more than average winters. There will not be any more bucks in 25/26 than what is on the mountain right now. A buck born in...

    Region H Archery Hunt

Thank you for sharing your experience. I live in Region H and your report is truly, sadly, eye opening and difficult to comprehend. On good average years, you should of saw up to 20 to 40 bucks per day depending on the drainages you would be hunting especially during archery season. To see...

Western Wyoming not as bad as I thought

Good conservation group but I definetly seen more bucks on our fathers day picnic and drive through the Wyoming Range than the fellow that just walked 80 miles with his head down.

Western Wyoming not as bad as I thought

Gary Fralik did a podcast with Robby Denning on the ROKSLIDE forum. It was a good interview. Not advertising another site on MM, just his knowledge is pertinent to this thread and I know FOUNDER has met with him. Gary wouldn't commit to saying how much of the herd may have perished in the...

It did not have that bad of a winter kill. Maybe a little worse than average but nothing like the units to the north. Should be some nice looking bucks this year. Good luck.

Guy Eastman ain't gonna be Corner Jumping

I find it odd that the above article did not reference the Unlawful Inclosures Act of 1885 for which the judge used to make his determination. Eastman should have referenced it too. There will be appeals no doubt on whether it was appropriate to apply the UIA for individual access across...

    Wyoming Antelope Winterkill

Take the advice from G&F and modify your application if you've applied for any of these areas. It's really unbelievable to not see antelope that are showing up on their summer ranges now. There are so few. Usually you see large groups migrating with deer through the transition zones...maybe...

2023 Bull Elk Draw Unit 097-1

Hiring an outfitter is the only way your going to get into elk when the season opens. Most elk will be deep in the wilderness and 10 to 15 miles from the trailheads. Elk from that area winter at several different feedgrounds and are kept well alive throughout the winter. Sometimes early snows...

50 less NR tags in G
