    Commision Meeting

Oh that's right, so outfitters could do two 5 day hunts with one day in between.

    Commision Meeting

Oh I just remembered, I think they reduced the non resident quota by 100 in deer region X.

They reduced doe mule deer tags in a couple areas.

    Wyoming elk 62

But there would be no chance of drawing as a second choice.

What do you think it would take for region G to come back?

It could also be that someone just wants to hunt that country. Maybe they don't care that much about how a buck will score. I know I don't. But I still would like to hunt that part of Wyoming someday.

    Cody Region Meetings 2024

They have lots of type 3 and type 8 whitetail tags in the Cody region.

What do you think it would take for region G to come back?

That's really not what I was saying. I'm saying a resident has a lot more opportunities to hunt other areas of the state, in October and November. A non resident hunting G or H went there specifically for that one hunt. I'm not sure it has to do with taking a small deer. But more than likely...

What do you think it would take for region G to come back?

Not just that, but the fact that many Wyoming residents might hunt region G or H areas for a couple days and not even try that hard to kill a deer because they've still got a couple months of deer hunting left in other areas where they can fill their general deer tag. A non resident in G or H...

What do you think it would take for region G to come back?

I'm not sure how accurate those numbers really are though, since most deer killed probably aren't reported. Right?

JCR, statistics, counts, objectives and harvest reports

I don't know if you guys have seen it, but the WGFD has a notice on the website that says "By March 20, updated proposals and video presentations on the proposed changes for the fall 2024 and spring 2025 hunting seasons will be posted."

SF 111 mule deer and whitetail separate hunting licenses, bad for mule deer.

So I'm still trying to understand what this would actually mean. Wouldn't it really have the most effect on residents, in that they would go from being able to purchase one general deer tag to being able to purchase two general deer tags? I don't see how anyone could possibly think this would...

Have to use 14 deer points this year

    I would say region G just because there's a chance you won't draw 141 with 14 points.

2024 NR elk applications - special vs regular

Antlers aren't worth anything to me. I'm paying for the experience, and the meat. This year I hope I'll be paying $692 for a cow elk. Just have to get lucky in the draw.

2024 NR elk applications - special vs regular

Sure, it's worth $2,000- if you're a person that has that kind of money. I really don't. I have two teenage girls who are driving. A lot of money right now is going to gas and insurance, and we'll be paying for college soon. I would rather spend $700 for the regular draw, or $300 for a reduced...

NR special draw license went WAY up...

The January/February 2024 Eastman's Journal that I just received in the mail says the "total special elk tag cost is a whopping $1,335." So I'm glad to see they didn't get it wrong everywhere.

There's plenty of opportunity for whitetails. Lots of type 8 licenses still available.

I got the email last year for draw results from the WGFD on June 14th. But I don't remember if that was early or not?

    Wyoming Antelope Winterkill

That's the one my daughter and I applied for too. But, had been debating whether to withdraw our application or switch to a different area because I was wondering if there were any antelope left at all. Now I don't have to decide. Not too disappointed since I drew an elk tag in Wyoming.

    Wyoming results are posted!

I bet you'd have a good chance of drawing a general in the special draw next year with the $2,000 price.

Two days early would be great. Today would be even better.

50 less NR tags in G

G went from 400 to 350 and H went from 600 to 400. That's the non resident quota. The number of resident hunters in each region is unknown.
  26. B

50 less NR tags in G

I listened to the entire meeting on Zoom, and if I remember correctly the biologist said, or some said close to 5,000 residents hunt G every year. So I suppose the 50 less deer that could be killed by non residents, could potentially be killed by residents. Isn't that possible? If I did the math...

50 less NR tags in G

Really? You think non residents hunting G have a 100% success rate. Highly unlikely. 50% at best.

    May 1st opening canceled

Just heard them talking about this issue at the commissioner's meeting. Sounds like they'll be recommending to push the date back. But also said they will wait one more week to make the final decision.

Took a Shot at the One shot and already getting blow back…

“Our understanding is that our 80 tags do not have an impact on the overall drawing odds,” he said. “That’s what we’ve been told by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and that’s what we believe.” Well, that's a bunch of BS. How could anyone believe that 80 tags doesn't make any difference in...

Summary of the Virtual Meeting Over Winter Issues W/Gordon

Yeah, it's possible my sense of taste isn't as good as some. I don't know. Just wild game is wild game to me. It's all good. The freezer right now only has deer in it, but all three species- whitetail, blacktail, and mule deer. Sure taste all the same to me. Never had Covid.

Summary of the Virtual Meeting Over Winter Issues W/Gordon

Elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, and antelope all taste exactly the same to me. It always amazes me how some people can favor one over the other because I just can't tell the difference.

Summary of the Virtual Meeting Over Winter Issues W/Gordon

I listened to the zoom meeting. Some residents speaking did ask for limited quotas for residents as well, and eliminating the general season. One I remember was specifically talking about area 82.

    Cutting Tags WY

Well I tried joining the Zoom meeting but got a message that said something about it was already at the limit of 100 people. Why a limit on number of people when they're on Zoom? I don't get it.

Newbie Hunter from Wyo with Some Questions - Semi-permanent blind during season?

If your blind is all natural materials then I wouldn't worry about leaving it there or not. Only issue would be possibly another hunter using it. But no legal issues to be concerned with. And you don't even need to take it down after your hunt is over. The carcass that you leave behind is also a...

    Winter Conditions so far…

Why does every thread on here always have to get into resident versus non resident? It's getting old. I'm a non resident, and I agree residents should have priority in obtaining tags. There's no argument regarding that. 90-10, fine, make it happen. Even if deer and antelope populations were at...

The proposed quotas at this point are not final. They very likely will have more reductions before the numbers are approved.

    NR 105, 106 & 109 deer?

There would be 5, but apparently 4 went to landowners would be my guess. Looks like residents only got 15, should have been 20. So 5 of those must have gone to landowners as well.

Yes, elk draw results will be out before the deadline to apply for antelope.
