Well seems I forgot to apply for a pref point for elk this year. I got my deer app in but completely forgot about my elk point. If I apply for a tag during the 2nd draw and do NOT draw that tag, do I get a pref point? I'm guessing no but here's hoping :)

What a year...congratulations.

I drew with 17. I live at sea level so altitude was a concern. Also the reason I did a drop camp. Arrived 2 days early to acclimate, drank a bunch of water constantly, no caffeine, no alchahol for 3 days prior. Took Diomax and seemed to help. Felt sluggish at first but stronger every day.

Hunted it last year for archery. Did a ton of research and decided on a solo drop camp. Killed a 340" on the my 3rd day (last week of archery) and saw plenty in the 300"+ range including another 340"ish. Killed mine at 12,000. Send me a PM if you need some help...

I don't use a peep sight. Kisser button and anchor below my right ear. Good out to 70 yds. Also use the no-peep if you remember those.

I shoot this exact setup out of my Sako with great results. Your velocity could use a bump as Im getting 3000fps out of mine. 2 bulls dropped within 10 yards after a 300 yd shot. 1" groups out to 200 yds. Let me know if you want to try my reload formula.

Totally believe it. I mean look at the size caparison to the person in the background. That elk has gotta weigh 4000-5000 lbs easy. And though not many points, those beams have to be 9 feet long. :)
