Changes Needed to Secondary Draw and Re-Issue Process

I like the preview and the set open time. What I don't like is it being open to everyone. First half hour to hour should be Residents only. Why you ask? because unless you are from here, AZ, CA and maybe NM you can just go buy a deer tag at Walmart if you are from any other state. You already...

License fee increase for nonresidents introduced in House

People that live in States without Elk, Antelope and Mule Deer probably live in States with robust whitetail herds and don't need to worry about drawing a tag and get forced into short 7 day seasons. They probably have seasons that can last for months! Folks in Colorado need to focus on our...

WY Residents...time to cut a deal?

How did Colorado end up on your list? We are by far the most generous state when it comes to Nonresident hunting. OTC Elk tags, 35% of draw quota and Landowner vouchers. I think Colorado has been carrying the Nonresidents load for far too long compared to any otherwestern state ok, now back...

    Colorado/California

I saw an article showing census data and Colorado and California are similar with 60% of each states populations not being from California or Colorado. Makes sense cause everyone I meet in Colorado nowadays seems to be from the northeast or upper mid-West

    CPW Commission updating 80/20

Lets hope he wins his election next month. He's the one that tried to run the bill last time to guarantee tags for residents https://www.woodwardforcolorado.com/

    CPW Commission updating 80/20

After landowners get 20% of the tag quota right off the top and sell primarily to Nonresidents, Residents only really get 52% of the tag quota for 65/35 GMU's and 64% in 80/20 GMU's.

WY Taskforce - High Demand & Standard Demand

WY Taskforce - High Demand & Standard Demand

Wyoming needs to go 90/10 across the board, cause wife wants to retire 2.5 hour drive north of here and I've put up with Colorado's BS long enough!

    CA Outfitter Recommendation

Anyone have outfitters in CA they would recommend? Looking to do a bucket list hunt and even a management hunt would be great. I see several outfitters offer that for a cheaper price, but don't have a clue who to go with thanks

Where is the outrage? CPW killing off all the deer...

Make as much money as they can off all the deer tags, and then when the deer are gone they don't have to spend any money on managing them and can go back to spending money on watchable wildlife and stocking 10" trout

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

I watched the meeting, and I really don't expect anything to be done. They are clueless and will do whatever CPW feeds them. Only fix to this issue would have to come from the legislature if any fix happens at all.

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

You nailed it. That is the only way to fix the problem. When enough residents bellyache to their State Reps or start a petition to force CPW into making a change. I would love it if they made CPW use funds raise by hunting licenses to actually go into programs for hunting and not Dam repairs...

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

I agree that 90-10 is the way it should be. That would still only be 72% of the quota after the vouchers take 20% off the top. I’m a little anxious about our commission having any say-so in this since issue considering their backgrounds with the exception of Charles Garcia. CPW is so drunk on...

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

A problem I see with "use your points" if you obtain any bull/buck tag is residents that want to hunt every year will be restricted to 0-1 point area's while nonresidents still get to hunt their home states every year and cherry pick the premium tags here. Colorado already issues more NR elk...

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

They don't spend the income from tags for big game as it is. At least CPW was upfront saying they needed more money for Dam repairs, fish hatchery renovation and fish food when they lobbied for the resident fee increase(s) a few years back. Hunters couldn't wait and begged the legislature to be...

License Distribution/Preference Points Focus Group For Future Seasons

I would hope they would limit NR and keep Residents OTC for Elk. As soon as the rifle seasons go limited it opens the GMU's to the voucher program. I agree with txhunter58, about costs. Limit NR's by caps not fee's. But something needs to be done concerning the crowds. I'm a resident and...

    90/10 not going away...

Good on Wyoming for going to 90/10. I wish Colorado would get on board with putting Resident hunters first. My boys have no interest in big game hunting, at least here in Colorado because the times we've gone together we spend half of our short rifle season trying to find places to hunt...

    Colorado Big Game Survey

LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-19 AT 09:17AM (MST)[p]We seriously need to take a look at Wyoming's way of doing things. Yes I know we have more people, but if anyone gets capped it needs to be nonresidents. Resident hunters are more weekend warriors, where nonresidents come out and pressure animals for...

    CO Outdoors Pref Point Issue?

The Colorado Outdoors Preference Point issue is a bit misleading. It gives the total quota prior to Landowners taking a 20-25% cut of the tags depending on which side of I-25 they're on. So if a GMU west of I-25 says in has 100 tags, 20 of those tags are taken off the top for landowners, so in...
