Brother and I both pulled the same elk tag with 1 point. Took 11 NR in the bonus draw. Both of us drawing is pretty crazy.

In the same boat as a few of you who already commented. I lucked out on a AZ elk tag. So changing Utah strategy this year and swinging for the fences.

I played a lot of baseball before my adult life. To keep that going, I now play competitive men’s fastpitch softball. But as kids are aging, it’s getting harder to keep at it.

I’d say. Was unexpected on my end. I was planning to force the draw on a lesser tag in Utah, but now I think I’ll just swing for the fences.

The late season

I drew a unit 6A muzzy tag

My wife asked what I spent $650 on in AZ. Only had 2 points.

Been on 2 hunts with powerbelts. First one a cow elk, shot through the heart and ran 30yds and died. Perfect dime size hole entrance and exit. 2nd a 4point buck shot through the front shoulder. Perfect dime size hole entrance and exit. He didn’t die, a follow up shot at 100yds hit in the knee...

This one got me. Found him the fall of 2022. I nicknamed him “23”, because I planned to kill him in 2023. Watching him in the summer, I figured he was north of 180”. My brother killed him and He ended up with not very much mass and scored barley at 170”.

I haven’t been to the pauns. But I’ve taken a lap around the oak creeks, and with heart issues, I would not consider it.

My wife’s grandpa found this in S Utah years ago. Never scored it.The picture hides just how massive it is.

I picked up a left side of a typical that was in the mid 80”, the next year I picked up his right side and it was in the mid 90” range. It’s been a few years sense I measured them and can’t remember exactly. Sure spent a lot of time looking for that deer in the summer but could never find him.
