The OFFICIAL what did you draw thread!

At work the last couple days, finally catching up! Elk - 1st archery in 45 Deer - Unit 29, probably in January. Should be fun!

What elk unit are you hoping you drew this year and why?

I put in for Vidal, 45 and 6C. Since I didn't see a Once In A Lifetime thing in My Account, I'm assuming I'm not going to the Valle Vidal. So it is either 45 or 6C. Just happy to be getting out again.

    NEW BACKDOOR

I like it.....because if this is right I'm going elk and deer hunting this year. No antelope or bighorn, but hey....I'll take it!

    Gila winter precip 2014-15

And they're saying....saying being the key word there, that with a warming trend in the Pacific we might be due for a very wet spring.

    Big Game Vest ?

I'm with you on the Kuiu Guide vest, one of my favorite things last season was that vest. Perfect fit, at least for me. I know they're pricy, but what about Filson? http://www.filson.com/mens/vests-liners/-1011/

    Big Game Deadline 3/18

Yeah it is usually about a month. A long long month.

    Big Game Deadline 3/18

It is in...a least for me. After a couple weeks of hemming and hawing, clicking, unclicking, then reclicking, staring at the excel odds spreadsheet, I finally sent it in last night. Now I just sit here daydreaming and hoping I don't get much of a refund from NMDGF in about a month.... Just...

    satellite phones

Gotta say for all that cost, think about a good ol' amateur radio license. No morse code anymore, one simple test of 30 questions. Good for 10 years. You can get a cheap handheld for 1/3 of what you pay to rent the phone. NM has one of the best linked repeater systems available across it...

    16D

Just posted from NMDGF: Heads up hunters! Expect to get wet; try not to get stuck. Hunters going afield this week can expect extremely wet weather and possibly hazardous road conditions as the remnants of Hurricane Odile move into the state. Hunters in southern New Mexico should be most...

    Unit 45 Scouting Trip

Had a great hike out in 45 this morning. With the esteemed MM member nmwapiti as my guide, he took me right to the spot. Little bull pushing 10 cows or so up, some noise further up the mountain from another. Should be rocking in a few more days. So great to get out hear some bugles, see some...

    First Lite or Kuiu?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-14 AT 12:49PM (MST)[p]I got the Tiburon pants a couple weeks ago and am very impressed. Initially I was worried about how lightweight they are, but after reading durability reviews it seems they should be just fine. Fit is excellent, very comfortable and great articulation...

RMEF New Mexico State wide elk tag

Congrats! I'll echo the same sentiments as others - pickup another tag for a fraction of the cost and enjoy the rest of the cash!

    Satellite Phones

I might be old fashioned, but it was a lot cheaper to get a technician level amateur radio license. That is depending on your state and systems. NM has a linked repeater system (http://nm5ml.com) that I can hit with a 5w portable radio and it will then go all over the state. Local repeaters are...

    Sitka gear

I just got the Core hoodie from them. Noticed the stitching was off on the left thumb loop. Contacted them, now I gotta pay to ship it back to them. Is that unreasonable? I guess I'm spoiled by other places. I'm considering just shipping back the whole kit and starting over. I don't wanna pay...

    Heaters in Ground Blinds

Little late to the party but all flammable gases like that have an odorant added for easy human detection and hopeful safe precautions thereafter. We all know that smell too well. So I can only assume that being out of place for any animal it would cause them to beat feet out of there.
