Has anyone done a Flattops Wilderness drop camp with Flattops Wilderness Guides? Thinking of booking a archery elk hunt for my son and I. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
LIK2HNT, I have "MASA" Medical Transport Solutions. Covers Helicopter, Plane and Ambulance. Costs under 50.00 per year. Hopefully I will never have to use it but it's worth having if you spend time in the mountains. You better bet I let my buddies no to call the Helicopter if needed. :)
I killed it on public. I never asked if I could hunt the LO's private. I've hunted the same area off divide for years. I don't see where it would be an advantage hunting the private up there with all the public to hunt. Most the private is fairly small in comparison. Pretty crowded first few...
We had a great 3rd season hunt in 62. Saw two bucks bigger than what I killed. Saw five bucks killed and heard of three others. All respectable bucks. Saw over a hundred deer. Some groups of does had bucks with them and some didn't. The buck I killed had does with it. I spoke to a group of three...
Primitive season should mean use of primitive weapon. I've hunted with black powder since the eighties and have never taken a shot over 100 yds.. I did use a 1x scope on a deer hunt in Utah once and found that I was a better shoot using it than without it. I'd rather kill an animal dead with one...
Nice photo here that member, Osprey, shared in a popular thread on the site called, "Packin' It Out Photo Contest". See it here...>>> https://www.monstermuleys.info/xf/threads/packin-it-out-photo-contest.195063/
Thanks to all the help here. I was a bit concerned about the QLA after reading what some people have experienced with it even though I've never had a problem myself with it and three models with QLA barrels I have. I took the early advice of diablo and ordered some 300 grain THOR Hammers, 63...
Email Blackhorn and ask them when they are releasing the next batch. Then check Midway a couple times a day until they post it for sale. This is how I picked up some last month. It will sell out same day so you have to check for it a couple times a day.
You can draw 12aw early. I hunted it in 2019. Killed a 190 buck after eight days of hunting. Was after another buck in that range that I could not connect on but saw him several times. Missed an absolute stud of a buck. Saw a couple big bucks that were killed. A buddy of mine hunted the same...
Anyone have a bullet recommendation for a T/C Pro Hunter? Going on a bull elk hunt in CO. No sabots allowed. Planning on using Blackhorn 209 if I can find some. Have some but not sure I have enough. Barrel has the QLA so I'm fishing for some info from someone that has had luck shooting a conical...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

You won't be disappointed. Excellent work.
Jay Ogden in Richfield Utah does excellent work also. I've used them both and will again.
They're not hiding anything. It reads "Estate World Record". That tells you it was high fenced. One of the men pictured owns a ranch down there that is half high fenced and half low fenced. High fenced for his sheep since his ranch is located in an area that has a lot of predators. The ranch...
Not I. The wait is to long. I spend 20+ years to draw a tag it's going to be used on a bull of a lifetime for me. That would be 350+. There are plenty are states to hunt 300" or smaller bulls in.
I'm thinking about taking my son archery elk hunting there next year (2021). How was the hunt. Know the northern area well but never have hunted it during archery season.
