35L is not a park, it's just national forest, decent hunting, 170about the top end I've seen but I suppose there could be better with a little luck, not hard to find deer, just cover some ground, and they tend to get pushed out on to the surrounding private when the hunting starts

I didn't draw this year, maybe next. Thinking about going out to scout a bit. Any thoughts on how valuable that would be? It's a long way.

I think second season will jump as well. everybody will try using points over the next couple of seasons with the outlook for the future. That is for the more popular units anyway.

seems like a fruitless strategy for non residents with the points needed to draw now and in the future. Going to need a lot of points to average enough for a unit 10 archery tag. On the other hand if wife or kids like to hunt take a shot at random tag while building points.

its been a while but when I hunted it I just showed up, in elk every day, almost all under 300 though, some days 20 bulls, did find one giant through luck and just covering ground, hunted him for several days but could not tag out. Still one of my funest hunts ever.

if those 5ths were each 4-5 inches longer I would think he would be a 370 type bull, thus 360 would be my guess. Fronts through the thirds and main beams look great, 4ths look pretty good. Like bloodtracker, I would have shot before adding inches.

I went back and looked at the draw report. There were 40 tags authorized and 38 issued for Wenaha, all to residents. I guess if a guy wants a tag better apply in odd years.

I thought there were 40 tags available so 2.5% would mean a non res tag every year and an outfitter tag every year, but maybe the total number dropped a bit, a non res did have as many points as any residents so should have drawn if there was a tag available so Drnaln must be correct and there...

Looks like you would have drawn either the Emily or Walla Walla archery tag this year and would have been in the top point pool for Wenaha. I don't know what happened in the Wenaha draw, no non-resident drew a tag
