Applications Numbers 2024 draw~ system crash

It was my understanding the system didn't crash, it was too many people applying over the telephone that overloaded their staff so they weren't able to get through everyone on hold... We were reminded 8,565 times to apply, apply, apply. We had months to do so. IMO anyone who couldn't get...

    Almost Turkey Time…

For whatever reason areas I've seen birds in the past simply didn't produce any activity last year. And everywhere else I looked turned up empty too. Will be ready to try new spots this year while keeping tabs on old areas. Best of luck to all.

    HB 129

7 days may not necessarily be that bad for you or me personally. But next year when they decide it should be extended to 14, then later on 4 months... As stated above "Shall not be infringed" is the issue. The issue isn't whether 1 day, 5 days or 7 days is the magic time period.

    Dallas Safari Club New Mexico

Definitely not NMSFW rebranded. DSC and NRA are IMO the biggest national voices. While no organization is perfect, they can do almost infinitely more than small unorganized local organizations when it comes to supporting hunting and firearms nationally.

    Drew Ibex

I swear the management plan often seems like "kill them off, so we can work to help them recover" sort of job security type of thing. Doesn't matter if we're talking about deer, ibex, elk, pronghorn... Maybe I'm just too simple minded and don't understand?

November 2023 Off Range Oryx hunt

Although might be handy, the problem with boards and a small jack is you have to be able to crawl under the rig. A high-lift with available lifting points on front and rear bumpers is huge benefit. Especially in mud...

November 2023 Off Range Oryx hunt

Yikes! Looks like your van could use a high-lift jack in the tool kit! As stated some of those roads can get really bad when wet OR dry.

I have a buddy looking to sell "like new" MSR Habitude 6 and a Cabelas Quad Pole Dome 4 Season Tent. Shoot me a PM if you're interested I can pass along his contact info. If he says they are "like new"; they are. Located in ABQ.

Yeah, moose aren't considered "feral". Seems they might be able to gain a foothold in the Pecos if a cow or two meander down from CO.

November 2023 Off Range Oryx hunt

I tend to agree coloradoman, but I think it also depends on the truck. My Tacoma would virtually never get stuck in only sand. But a heavy truck might. On an off-range oryx hunt with daughter during incredible monsoons I needed chains and a heavy foot on the accelerator even in my truck.

    Bear and cougar proposed changes

Agreed, we need to stand up and explain all animals need to be managed, state that lion and bear meat is good to eat (really, both are awesome) and that they are not just hunted "for sport".

    hunters aren’t really necessary

Yep, that's the reason for constant push for wolves, reduced seasons or quotas, or protection of lions and bears. We already have Game Commission members that lean this way.

Not that I'm aware, NMDGF emails the closures for zones. Shoot me a PM, I try to save emails and could look back and see if I can find some info for you. New Mexico Pronghorn Unit 58

Also be aware you can't camp on State Land. I doubt you'll find any private that will allow you to hunt for free. Since they can sell as many private land tags as they want, why would they allow someone to hunt for free? Good luck.

Future a barbary sheep hunt unit 34 nm

Horseback hunt into wilderness areas of GMU 18
