    Ram score?

Ya, you about let a 200”+ mule deer walk….but you didn’t and now you have him! Huge bodies can do that to you! (Spencer’s antelope and your Colo buck). Sheep mass (of lack of it) and poor angles can do crazy things to the hunter. We do the best we can and let the chips fall where they may. Age...

    Ram score?

Mass makes a big difference in scoring! That's why my bro's scores like it does but no one in their right mind should ever pass on that ram "in Utah", IMHO. 12 YO and he's not getting any bigger, now. This has been a fun and informative thread, Mr. LBH. Your ram is the high water mark for a UT...

    Ram score?

Well, this is an VERY interesting thread and y’all have no idea what size ram we’re looking at. LBH, I hope I didn’t spill the beans…..too badly. Photos and viewing angles have a HUGE influence on what we “think” we’re seeing. SUCH IS SHEEP HUNTING!!! I LOVE this thread! Thx LBH, great...

    Ram score?

Hey LBH, Text me the unit and I’ll better be able to tell you if he’s a “shooter”, which I think he is, and a closer guess on score. (Some units are prone to smaller-ish bases) One thing I know, he’s not as big as your 170”+ Utah ram or Zac’s 168”. That thing of yours is the high water mark...

    Ram score?

I'm late to the party but I'll agree with others. (more pics always help) Not tons of mass but he does have the age. In most Utah units, a guy would be foolish to pass that ram! Mid 150's IMHO. Zeke

    7mm-08 thoughts

Way back in 1977 I hunted caribou in Alaska with a guy who had one. It was certainly a cool wildcat back then. I've "calibered" all around the 7-08 but never built one....yet. Zeke

    Post them up

Wyoming has been good to me as well. Buzz told me that changes were afoot so I went with an easier draw area for sheep. 30Hart put me on to a great area for moose. It all worked out! MM friends are a wonderful thing! Thanks, Zeke

    WHO'S RUNNING AN E-PICK-UP/E-VEHICLE???

Bess, The automakers CAN build them but the damn Gov regulations won't allow it. It's no wonder that when you take all the tricky Gov reg devices off, they run better, cooler, stronger, more efficiently!!!!! Zeke

    GEEZUS!!! ANOTHER F'N COMMITTEE!

Lots of mental illness going around right now and one party propagated it for the most part. Utah is becoming way too liberal and coddling and it starts with the damn politicians. Zeke

    Benelli and Browning shotguns

Yes and it's always been spot-on! Story time: My wife and I went duck hunting on Jan 1st, years ago, back when you needed a new license at the first of every year. We shot and shot and ended up with a generous limit of greenheads (out your way-ish) and trudged back to the truck to find the...

    Benelli and Browning shotguns

Bess, Let's just say it's had more than a few "limit" days on ducks and geese especially way back then. I even managed a few limit days recently on ducks in Nebraska and geese in Colorado. I used to hunt the Basin all the time but getting on the places to hunt has become difficult nowadays. I...

    Benelli and Browning shotguns

I'm so old-school that I use a few Browning B-80's (Beretta patent) from the mid 80's. I dipped one in corn field camo and it has the 3" barrel on it and I best not say how many ducks and geese it's brought down over the years. Zeke

    Turkey Tags?

My grandson raises turkeys so I think I'll give him $100 for one and shoot it. I'll have to shoot it before it walks up to me too close!!!(yes, white and it'll be about 30 lbs) This should save about $300 on fuel. Zeke

    Looks fun......

That seems pretty effective in the right kind of terrain and road layout. I can see how this would be exciting and addictive but.... I'd rather call one in and rifle-shoot it but that's just me. Zeke

    Rifle Tech???

Well said Elk, I'm sure it happens. I'm also sure it has happened long before the LR craze and will continue until the end of hunting. Many if not most guys are pretty lazy. Zeke

    Rifle Tech???

Wiffy, Remember I've been against all the same things as you even if it had no impact on me either way. Sure, Lots of guys have "custom" rifles but damn few shoot them enough to be any good anyway, IMHO. I agree with what was said above: 10% have them (custom rifles) and 10% of them know what...

    Rifle Tech???

Not sure why we always point to the extremes as an example of what guys are using. My guess is that way less than one tenth of one percent of the "hunters" use something like that. What's your guess WIffy? Six guys in the whole State use something like that on the hunt? I do agree that a lot of...

What rifle Calibers have you used?

I cannot totally disagree but maybe a blanket statement isn't in order. I've seen way more crap shots from guys who don't shoot much. Take that to the bank. Opinions are a wonderful thing. Everyone gets to have one. Zeke

    22 Creedmoor

Ever shoot a coyote with a 6.5 Creedmoor? Not too pretty if that sort of thing matters to a guy. I cannot see myself sitting behind a 6.5 in a big prairie dog town and having joy beyond about 100 rounds. Give me a 20 or 22 all day long! If none of the above matters, why not use a 26 Nosler...

    22 Creedmoor

My bro and I both have 22-250 AI's and they're as great as a 22 Creedmoor. We went this route because we have a ton of once fired brass and a spare barrel (for copious fireforming) that could be chambered at the same time as our "good" barrels. Easy and lots of fun to position shoot 400 rounds...

6 thousandths jam isn't too much for a hunting rifle IMHO. Not sure I want to count on jammed ammo in a big game rifle but I do for yotes and varmints all the time with my 20 Practical with 40 grain BIB all the time. Zeke

    Nosler contact

A body only die would work but a FL die wouldn't! It would be too tight in the neck for loaded ammo. Yes, a FL die would size them to fit in the chamber but it would change the bullet diameter where the case neck contacts it. Zeke
