I always wonder how come people apply for areas they have no clue about. Like what made you apply there and not a better unit. Historically these units have killed some great deer. The units now are suffering. The deer densities are low. Especially in 114. A backpack style hunt in 114 on MT...

Took this buck on the archery hunt last year. Yes very few deer, but there are a few big ones around if you do your homework. This buck was taken on the indian peaks range.

There is no gas in Garrison. However, The Border Inn is 8 miles north of garrison. The elk will probably be scattered that time of year. The lower portions of the Indian peaks rage should have plenty of elk. Drive around and glass the foothills.

They?re always getting hit around that unit. Seems like one or two of the bigger bucks gets hit every year.

More traffic? Lookout pass is normally full and the cherry reek area has recreational vehicles traveling every which way. I don't see the publicity of these tags causing any more commotion on that unit than there already is. Most of the hunting traffic is concentrated around one or two areas...

I'm curious as to why some guys are thinking these tags are going to make the the unit a #### show?? The Vernon is a big unit... but definitely suffering trophy quality. There are still some big deer to be had out there, but gotta dig and dig to find and stay on them.

My experiences Nevada generally doesn't have the deer numbers that you will see in LE units or places like Colorado. It won't be anything like hunting the books... however Nevada produces great bucks. I know it's my favorite state to hunt. Having points deff helps, but doesn't guarantee a tag...

You should be able to find plenty of deer out on Desert Mountain right now.

There?s plenty of opportunity to hunt 150+ deer on Utah general units. Are you planning to do much scouting? How much hiking can you do? I would say pine valley is one of the better general units. They are taking good bucks outta there every year. It's a big unit. Also Zion is doing well.
