The factory Encore breechplug shoots BH209 just fine. I have shot many pounds of BH209 in my Encore and Omega with no issues when using the correct primer and a tight fitting sabot of course.

Check out the Fury 325 gr star tips. They are very accurate when sized to fit your bore. I also recommend getting a new breechplug from Arrowhead Sporting Goods. It will give the best and most consistent performance.

I believe you will find short action 2-piece bases for the 10/12/14/16 will also work. I went the other way and installed a picatinny rails on my long action guns. Much better alignment than the 2-piece.

A .50 cal SWC bullet weighing 460 gr will have a BC of about .200 at 1375 fps @ muzzle you are down to 850 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yards. Just over 1000 at 200 yards. Even a very generous BC of .220 is under 900 ft-lbs at 300 yards.

Electronic scales suck. They are not repeatable measuring to .1 grains. They are susceptible to fluorescent lights interfering with them and you need to add powder quickly to get the readings to increase correctly. A cheap balance beam is much better than any electronic scale for powder...

84.0 gr by weight is equal to 118.4 gr by volume. You can use 1.0 gr by volume = 0.71 gr by weight with BH209.

Yep, that is why I always premeasure my loads by weight. Using 0.7 gr by weight to 1.0 gr by volume is what Western Powder also recommends. Some say it does not make a difference, but nobody at Friendship loads by volume, well nobody that wins loads by volume.
