There was about a 2 point jump last year for unit 1. I had 21 and only 5 of the 12 non-residents with 21 points drew Unit 1 early archery last year. I was not among the winners. (Technically....we don't know how many of the folks with 21 points were still in the running because 9 of those...

I was helping someone on a muzzy bull tag in 67 this year. We were hunting anywhere from tree line to about 700 feet below. I saw more grouse than I've ever seen in any unit this year. Look for edges like where clearcuts meet timber, willows converge with different habitat, etc.

Actually, it would be a 12% death rate annually given this has been going on more than a year..... (not to knit pick the math). 1 out of 8 deer roughly every year. That's assuming the death rate was linear. Otherwise...you might have a year with a higher % or lower % due to environmental...

Take this for what it's worth.....which may be nothing, but I talked with an outfitter this morning and they said that "there are some issues that will take some time to work out and that CC hits are far from done". I have no reason to doubt the individual or the quality of their knowledge...

I switched my focus to Unit 1 early archery with 21 points this year and haven't seen a CC hit. I got tired of chasing 3C but looks like the same results. A day late and a $ short I guess.... I wonder how bad point creep was this year with the great moisture and later dates?

I don't know the answer to whether you should be able to see it but I bought it last year as well and it would not let me buy any type of point guard for the elk/antelope draw. Did you see the same thing?

If you are lucky enough to draw the tag, I believe the cost is $20,000 for the license. If you participate in the sealed bid process...the minimum is $40,000 for a bid. These costs are pre guide fees, etc. I think there is an auction tag as well.

I use a level on every rifle I've owned in the last 15 years or so. Like others have mentioned, maybe it doesn't make much difference at close ranges but I am surprised how much my instincts are off in certain shooting situations. There are times I question the bubble depending on the terrain...

I thought they were considering switching 60% of the tags going to bonus points. Maybe I dreamed that....or maybe I'm thinking of another state considering that change?

Sorry for the dumb question, but can you elaborate on "tag shifts"? I guess I wasn't aware there was any type of change. I thought Utah was going to allocate a higher % of tags to the bonus point round this year but would have assumed that was going to help folks.
