I had 19 archery antelope points and applied for hunts that were 100% draw last year. No tag this year. I used to be able to draw those same hunts with 4-6 points.

For lack of a better word I used quirk. Yes, it’s where your second choice would have enough to put you in a bonus round but your first did not. I learned that the hard way.

Another quirk in the system that should be fixed is in the bonus round where you can get drawn for your 2nd choice without the first choice being considered.

Unless I am mistaken crossbows are the only weapon category that does not have it's own season. If they are banned the dept, needs to give them their own. Since they are already being counted during the archery hunts take time and quota numbers from the bow hunts and allot them to an xbow season...

I've said this before. If somebody is against crossbows during archery season petition the commission to eliminate them instead of bitching about it on the www. Taking action is how change occurs.

Petition the commission to ban crossbows during an archery hunt if you are against it. If crossbows make up 25% of the take then reduce archery harvest by that much and give crossbow hunters their own hunt. Not a good idea? Soon they are going to have hard numbers. I think it is only fair...

There was discussion at one time about restricting NR archery deer tags to 10% of the total tags sold. Does anyone know if that died or is it still being considered?

I had the same archery tag 4 years ago and killed a 326 bull. Lots of people but I found an out of the way tank and hunted that area. 8 has some very big bulls!

I'm in. Born and raised in unit 42 in the rural areas. There are still some good bucks there but nothing like it was years past. I set up a deer camp west of Wickenburg every year and spend most of January there. BTW the two bucks in my avatar are 42 bucks.

My wife had a general deer tag. I have been hunting the desert for over 40 years and never saw so many people. It was hard to get away from the crowds. I can only imagine what Dec/Jan is going to look like.

Between interstate 8 and 10 there are pockets of some very heavy rutting action.
