I’m helping a good friend of mine on an X5B hunt this year. Is anyone willing to discuss ( through PMs) the unit and answer some questions I have about areas before I go on my scouting trips

The J4 hunt is awesome, my two sons hunted it 5 years ago ( it might have changed some) probably the best chance to kill a giant true blacktail without paying for it! If your son applies and draws, I’ll provide as much help as I can.

I sure hope it does, last year our group killed 4 bucks and 2 were CWD positive!

I’m going guided, I met Jerry Blake from LOH Outfitters some years ago when he helped my twin boys on a mule deer hunt. I have been trying to draw a tag for the last 4 years! I hope to hold out for a 300 bull, but bigger would be ok too!! I have never shot a bull with my bow.

I got lucky this year and drew a second season archery tag in 36 ! Hopefully I can do the tag justice and hold out for something nice!

A point for elk, deer , and antelope. Burned my points for deer and antelope the last two years, I’ll have 24 elk points going into next years draw.

I know how you feel, I’m sitting with 23 points and no clear options! OTC units have been fun though!

I’m conflicted about that buck, great antlers,but it came up CWD positive! Actually two of the four deer my buddies and I took ended up being CWD positive!

With out a doubt, Musich is probably the best you will ever use!

If you plan on changing threaded items, copper anti-seize is the way to go

I just found my old paper maps from nine years back( they still work, no batteries needed) from a company HuntData, I think they are still around

I’m in for 128 with max points, drawing would be good and bad as I drew a unit 100 elk tag and a 2nd Season Colorado deer tag!

Thanks guys I will check with them, pushing it out to 2023, just found out I drew an elk tag in Wyoming! (Pure Luck)

Thanks for the input about the condition of the Forest! I checked out Mavericks and info says they’re permanently closed, if anyone has any leads on small packing outfits please let me know! PM me with anything that might help!
