    Any Luck?!?!

I second the dumb ass people. First hunt I felt was slow we were in elk everyday but not rutty elk till about the 8th. Stuck mine in the 13th a 340 type bull. My old man had the second hunt and we had 3 big bulls found from my hunt and we were on a 370-380 type bull found we couldn’t make a play...

Let’s keep the E Plus program

But you’re wrong here….. those tags from the Eplus wouldn’t be added to the draw….. Or at least the shouldn’t be because then you take the acreage out of being able to hunt….. this I believe is the biggest misconception about it all is people think the eplus UW tags would all the be funneled...

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Again….. I think an easy change in the dates would significantly reduce success. Your talking limit archery from 0-80 yards to 40 yards….. and not muzzy’s that shoot out to 600??? Us as a hunting group I think, as I’ve already stated, have to come to realization that times are not what they were...

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Exactly…. 5 point restrictions and push the dates and then the rifle guys that went all in on ML and the archery guys that couldn’t make the cut that also went all in would re-think hunting with a ML because now we’re not chasing bugling bulls and trying to get into 400-500 yards…. We have to...

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Most accurate post right here. To touch on this a little. If you cut tags then you have more Hunters complaining about not drawing tags. I think everybody needs to start realizing draw odds are going to continue to get worse and worse. I do think that if we manage a few units better for quality...

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Push all gun hunts to November in top tier units and do away with rifle and make it any legal weapon. Be the best way to drop some success rates in rifle hunts and get some age back on some of the animals in the woods. Keep a youth hunt in September, maybe have 1 very limited tag any legal...

    34 elk muzzleloader

Good unit with lots of elk. Muzzle loader is a great hunt there. Off subject they should definitely look at moving the COER for that unit so the ranches on the out skirts don’t have a free for all from oct 1 to end of January. Also another unit that I think these new super muzzy’s and early...

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

i wouldn’t be against i power limit on scope for Muzz, I think true trophy potential has gone down for a multitude of reasons. Almost every elk in the woods has been seen on a trail cam….. outfitters mass 2,3,4,5+ guides to keep tabs on animals….. we’ve got radios calling out positions…..we have...

Thought on New Mexico draw process

Basic math says half this year and half next year doesn’t increase your odds. A 10% chance this year and the next and the next gives you a….. 10% chance to draw and hopefully in 10 years you will pull a tag…. You cut applicants in half….. you have a 20% one year and 0% the next which in turn...

    Ranchers Suing NMDGF

I feel like unit 34 is the worst about this with being outside of the core management area….. their is A LOT! Of elk outside of that management area and a couple certain outfitters get a bunch of tags because of it….

    Ranchers Suing NMDGF

We take cattle off the NF and grazing and then beef prices sky rocket because big ranches aren’t family ranches anymore they are corporate tax incentives. You take small families out of the game that get to lease these ranches and create even a bigger empire for the wealthy. This country is so...

    2020 archery bull

Yes I did. He was good enough! Didn’t beat my wifes from last year but I got close... Just got the meat back from the processor and we topped off our wild game freezer. It was a good year to be in the woods!

    My 16D Rifle Elk

Sounded like a good hunt. Congrats! There were still some big bulls to be had out there this year though. I personally thought antler growth was average this year. We got on some dandy’s out there. Still think they are issuing to many tags though.

    2020 archery bull

Well 2020 has been one for the books for sure. Pictures have already been posted a couple times in here but I’ll put the whole story out there. I was pretty pumped when I found out I finally got me another primo tag (my wife has been stealing all my luck apparently) and planning already started...

Hunter etiquette and being a sportsman

Actually I shot a pretty good bull I personally don’t like sitting tanks just one fellow would post a sign up and not be on the tank we were hunting around to keep people out. I’m just talking about ethics of hunting. You think it’s right to take 3 bulls in one hunt? Look for 5 hours and just...

Hunter etiquette and being a sportsman

I’m not a tank sitter by any means I know big bulls get killed at water every year and since it was such a dry summer it was a mad house with people at tanks. Never seen it as bad as it was this year. But we definitely hunted in the vicinity of the tank even though he had his sign saying he was...

That’s how most outfitters are as well. What really frustrated me was the quality of bulls he shot. I mean kuddos to him most people never get an opportunity at a bull 350 plus and he stuck 3.... in big into the game management side of things and keeping quality up is something I like to see and...

Hunter etiquette and being a sportsman

I only archery hunt and as archers need to look at ourselves and know our boundaries and limit ourselves. My wife shot a stud last year and she only pulls back 50 pounds. We limited her to 40 yards. Her shot was right at 40. I’m comfortable to 70 but after this year I might even cut that back...
