    Daughter's first muley

Thanks guys. It was a great experience. She actually spotted the buck. I'd overlooked it. One shot from her Moms old 270 closed the deal.

    Daughter's first muley

Pretty tickled. Hunted hard. Didn't see much. Bucks, does, even tracks. Not near the number of deer we saw last year. Glad her first hunt didn't end up tag soup.

Nice! Mile high rack on that guy. I love 66. My daughter will be on the gun this fall. She drew a second season tag. We're pretty stoked to get out there again. Good job buddy.

    Epic? 06 loads

    >Can't go wrong with a good >30-06. >Highly recommend 165gr pills. Especially with >R-17 powder. Since acquiring my first 06 in the late 70s, I have been primarily an advocate of the 180 grain bullet. Since fooling around with RL 17 and the 165 grain,I've had a change of heart. Don't know...

Is Gunnison basin a must see?

Without a pretty pronounced weather event,it's more of a vacation than a hunt. The later seasons are prime.

    Yote hunt?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-10-19 AT 04:40AM (MST)[p]I'm hoping to get her into the same unit I hunted in 2018. She should be right on the bubble for points provided creep doesn't weigh in too heavily. I've been hunting Colorado since 2011. The Gunny basin in particular. Im well versed in the p-point...

    Yote hunt?

Hey all. Got a question. I'm putting my daughter in for a Coorado mule deer hunt. The odds are long, but it's the hunt we need to take. Who knows, might just draw. On the flip side. If we don't draw I'd like to take a calling vacation. When I was a call maker,I flew to New Mexico to call coyote...

    Draw ?

    >Point systems suck. They decrease odds >of drawing a tag and >are unsustainable. Just look at >Utah, Nevada, etc. I'm pulling out of Colorado. Enough is enough.

    What to do?

Hey all. I'm on the fence. I want to take my oldest for mule deer next fall. She doesn't have enough points to draw 66 and take the same hunt I did this year. I'm well acquainted with 67,and she might be on the bubble to draw it with 7 NR points. What about 55 or 68? I could run up into the...

Unit 67 4th season report as promised

    >LOL don't forget your jack rabbit >call next time! I ran my own custom call business for 15 years. I dabbled in fawn distress calls. It got down right spooky at times field testing. There were times I thought I would be trampled. Does REALLY get with it when they hear fawn distress.

Unit 67 4th season report as promised

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-18 AT 08:36PM (MST)[p]I think we saw that buck! We went over into 67 scouting after our hunt in 66 second season. We saw this beautiful dark heavy horned buck that I initially took to be a 3X3. Getting glass on him as he entered some timber,I thought I could see forks on...

    Colorado deer Poll

LAST EDITED ON Nov-26-18 AT 03:47PM (MST)[p]I saw a drone flying around up skunk creek. Thinking that's illegal. As far as my hunt goes. I'm from Pennsylvania There were 3 of us in the truck. That's about as close to spotters as we get. Two on one side of the truck, one on the other. Filled...

    Unit 66 muley

It was a hoot. Really enjoyed hunting the big sage country. There were bigger bucks there, but I'm happy with the outcome. I've been replying to PMs. Can't find a sent messages or "out box". If I havent gotten back to anyone holler and we will try again.

    2018 muley

That's a dandy. The moon did make it interesting. Congrats on a beautiful buck.

    Gunny Muley

Not terrible. Dry! Early in the season anyway. There is a goodly amount of snow above 11,000. We took a ride around our elk camp in 67 while the deer were being processed. We didn't get up out of the safe for deer.

    Gunny weather?

Yeah,I get that CCity. We do pretty well on elm first season. Even with blue bird days. Better than rain that's for sure.

    Gunny weather?

Thanks for the info CCity65. I'd have been late too. I know snow this time of year is unlikely, but a fella can hope. We got hammered first season in 2013. Both coming and going. Really got the critters up and moving. Ill be in 66 second season for deer this year.

    61 2nd deer rifle...yikes

I feel your pain. That is a crappy hand to have to play out. But,hunting beats working no matter the conditions. Good luck to you Dorsey.
