    New website for draw

A little off subject. I tried to register two boats last month. After finally getting the first one all the way to checkout, it would not let me register the second one. I tried to pay for first boat several times with different credit cards. On each one it told me the card was not accepted...

    Lifetime lincense

I bought them in Dec 2015. Back then the lifetime hunting lic was about $500. The hunting package was about $500 and the lifetime fishing lic was about $500. Paid around $1500 for all three. Not sure how much they are today or if they are separated. I think the price is based on your age...

    Lifetime lincense

I bought the lifetime fishing, hunting and hunting package. I bought them the last day I was an official CA resident. Hunting package includes one deer tag and five pig tags per year. It has been a good deal for me. There is no way I would pay out of state fees to hunt in CA.

    073 Elk Success

Thanks for all the advise. I did hire an outfitter who could only hunt outside of the wilderness area. Got a bull on opening day. Spotted him and 30 elk from about 3 miles away. Worked our way to within 2 mile of him with vehicle. Spent about 4 hours going back and forth on foot in the...

    031 deer scouting trip

I just got back from two days of scouting in the area. I saw a few deer, but nothing special. This area seems pretty barren. I have never hunted this area before. Any tips from any of you that know the area would be appreciated. I plan on hunting the first week of the seaon, but may go back...

    Bull Elk 72e

Drew this tag and am thinking about using an outfitter for the first time in my life. Think I am getting a little old for packing one out by myself(65 in October). Have always hunted alone or with a few friends. Anyone have any suggestions for this area?

    Maps

I would buy the chip from the Wy Game and Fish website. I think it is the same one the Wardens use. Bought one from them and used it along with a hard copy BLM map last year. You really need both of them to know if your are in the right place. gf.state.wy.us

    NV 41 antelope scouting

HS Just got back tonight from second scouting trip. Didn't see any on first trip. Saw several tonight outside of Lovelock. Probably going up one more time before season opens. A lot of country to cover. Found a few water sources and spent time on them. Lots of weather this evening. Really...

roads to Gerlach and unit 014

Was on that road yesterday. It is not the best road in the area, but it is not the worst dirt road I have been on. I drove from Lovelock on 399 to it scouting for antelople in 41. Went out on the road and drove to Fernley. It might be farther to go on 80 to Fernley, but I think it would be a...

    Wolves in Southwest Wyoming.

In 2009, I was hunting deer in 101. Saw one SW of Pine Butte. That is South and East of Rock Springs. Was really surprised to see one that far South. We both looked at each other for a few minutes and then it just wandered off into the sage. I have lived in coyote country for over twenty...

    It's Time We Unite!!!

You can try this site. May not be that easy to use, but should give you the info you want. I moved out of the state over five years ago, but used to do some work for the CA fire service on legislative issues. http://www.legislature.ca.gov/legislators_and_districts/legislators/your_legislator.html

    Tire Chains Questions

Good advice from the others. L lived in the Eastern Sierra for 15 yrs at 8,000 ft. Last year I was there, we got 55 ft of snow for the season. I worked in public safety, so I had to be out in any weather at any time of day. In all that time, I only put chains on the vehicle I drove about...

    Job Ideas?

Best advise I ever had - find out what you want to do in life then find a job that will let you do it. If there is an area where you want to live, go there and find a job. As you grow older things will get better if you work at it.

    NV 203 deer

I drew 203 this year. Can only use shotguns in some of the area. Anyone know where you can buy a rifled barrel shotgun in the Gardnerville, Carson City Reno area. I have looked at Scheels, Cabelas, Big Five etc. Thanks for any info.

    Bear in garage

Get some rubber bullets for your shotgun and give him/her a few shots. If you want some bear meat, do what comes naturally, and don't talk much about it. I lived in Mammoth for 14 years and making the bears not want to come around was pretty effective.

    Area 24 Elk

Well, I have posted on this before. I will be hunting this area this year by myself. If I get one I will probably be getting it out by myself also. I will dry camp somewhere in the hunting area. Any suggestions on where to do that? Since I am by myself, I will probably do the gutless...

    Solo Hunt Help.

I'm over sixty now and can relate to some of the replies about ATV's and campers (I do have an ATV I use to get me close now). However, I still hunt by myself and enjoy it. I like it that way because I can do what I want. I could care less about music and news while I am away. I do like a...

    Nevada vs California

I left CA over 5 years ago. Moved to NV. I really like it here. I purchased a lifetime hunting and fishing Lic from CA on the last day I was considered a resident. I also purchased the package where you get one deer tag and 5 pig tags each year. I pay nothing for them except for the...

    Mandatory Harvest Reporting?

    1. Yes 2. I did this a few years ago. It was not hard to do. Five bucks is nothing if it would help with realistic hunting goals. 3. I did get a reply from the Dept regarding age. Info was nice to know. I think getting the info was great.

RMEF appology for HR 1581 fiasco?

This issue is over access and use. I like to have access to public lands. The Forrest Service and BLM have had most of these lands in a Study Area for almost 30 years. They did not meet the critera for wilderness then, and they still don't. I am as frustrated as most by having someone show...

    Poll on Hunting

Question #1. Manage deer heard for health and quality. While I really like more opportunity, I think heard health is more important in the long run. Question #2. I personally am not interested in hunting does, but would support a doe hunt if it will imporve the heard. Any study of deer...
