    Shed hunting Adventure 2013

LAST EDITED ON Jan-18-14 AT 09:06AM (MST)[p]While I'm here, I may as well throw up a couple of pics from our second and third trips, when we went back in for the browns. Unfortunately we have limited video from these trips, as we were too busy picking up horns to do much videoing.

    Shed hunting Adventure 2013

This was just the first trip of the year, just before the majority of the bulls shed, around the end of march. This video chronicles only that specific trip. Other video projects of later trips, are in the works.

    Shed hunting Adventure 2013

Hey everybody. This early spring, a friend and I headed into the most remote reaches of one of the wildest wilderness areas in the Lower 48. We spent 6 days enjoying spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and untouched shed hunting. We videoed the experience, and edited up the following- I...

Suggestion for a 5-6 day hunt

Well cabinfever I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. My gregory pack has hauled 90+ lb loads literally hundreds of times. I work in the winter time for a yurt based wilderness backcountry ski company (december-april). My main job description is that of a porter, i.e. the guy...

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics My next step is self bows. I've made one sinew backed vine maple, but it came out way under my target poundage. I think I may give black locust a try soon. I've messed around with making wild rose and rivercane shafts, I'll get more serious about that when I...

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics The two bladers fly great, get good penetration, and are really nice to sharpen. Can't complain considering this bull went only about 75 yards, and both his lungs were mostly froth. Anybody else a traditional archer/hunter?

Suggestion for a 5-6 day hunt

I recommend getting a non-hunting pack. Hunting packs are generally overpriced for their quality. I use a Gregory Baltoro 65 for backcountry skiing, backpacking, hunting, mountaineering, and when its tightened down it makes a suitable day pack. I have zero complaints. I've hauled 80 lb loads...

Well you know, it different strokes for different folks. I really like that music, and it's my video, so I put it together how I liked. I guess I could have put it to 'country boys will survive' like every other hunting video, but I wouldn't have liked that at all.

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics Thanks to everyone for the compliments. The bow is made by PSE, laminated bamboo and walnut. Shoots 55 lbs at my 30" draw length. I shoot Magnus 125 grain two-blade broadheads.

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics I believe that this bull was just shy of fully mature. He taste great. I got 301 lbs hanging weight from him.

    Elk bugle reviews?

I always Imagine a couple of older bulls up on a knob above a road. They hear a quad pull up, shut off, guys talking, the sound of a guy zipping down his pant to take a leak, a finally a bugle rip. Then the bulls start guessing which kind of bugle it is. Probably one of those Primos ones with...

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics I love it, i'll probably never go back to compound or gun, now that I've started having success with the longbow. Put the arch back in archery. Its a blast.

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics I've had wolves run my horses around a little bit one morning, but they didn't draw any blood, and the horses didn't seem too traumatized by the experience. Its definitely something I try to stay aware of in wolf country though.

Hells Canyon. Pretty much the roughest country on this continent in terms of topographical relief, and sheer steepness. I love it, especially coming out of the canyon with meat in my pack!

    2012 bull story w/pics

RE: 2012 bull story w/pics This was my second year going traditional. It takes alot different tactics than compound hunting. With a longbow, the shot I always set up for is a slow walk directly by my at less than 10 yards. So I almost always set up behind dense cover, on a well traveled...

2012 bull story w/pics I haven't cruised around on this site for years, but I got to thinking that some of you might like to see some pictures of the bull I tagged this last September, 2012. I work for an outfitter, so Septembers are usually pretty hectic for me. When I'm not guiding I am...

    Eleminating the off season!!!!

RE: Eliminating the off season!!!! Great pic and story man! I am very careful out there, and do full profiles on almost every slope I ski, and rarely ski anything over 33 or so degrees.

Just cause it's not hunting season, doesn't mean we can't spend everyday in the backcountry!
