    Nothing for me this year.

What now? After load work up on my hunting rifle-how often do you shoot it?

I have two identical (aside from barrels) rifles. Actually have a variety of barrels that get swapped in and out. My primary hunter is in 280ai, which is also a carbon wrapped barrel that I’d rather not replace. That one doesn’t get shot much any more, aside from confirming zero and hunting. I...

    Suppressor wait time

I’m a little over a year. Of course, I also moved to another state, so who knows when I’ll actually see the thing. ATF said at this point I’m better letting it finish going through, then deal with the change.

WEATHER & TEMPS IN YOUR AREA???

Warming up a bit the next few days, but it’s been mostly single digit highs for the last 3-4 weeks here. About 16” of settled snow. No longer Wyosam, now AKsam. Since my favorite time to hunt elk is late season snow and cold, it doesn’t seem like I missed much this year.

If you think the shingles shot "isn't pleasant", you should try shingles.

Massive Wild horse roundup set to begin.

The fact that we waste so much money on these things drives me nuts. If people want to adopt them- great, go catch one. Take all you want. There could be some private services that help with that. The rest? Hunt them. Let people shoot them then spend the next few weeks hunting coyotes off the...

A question to my Wyoming neighbors.

She is a conservative with the voting record to prove it. Not giving Trump a free pass does not make her a democrat.

A question to my Wyoming neighbors.

Not likely, she sunk her career by showing a small amount of integrity.

    Gotta love Yellowstone

Yep, we seem to have an even bigger “stupid” epidemic than normal around here. Almost hit one of those fools with the giant lens on Togwotee on my way home from work yesterday when he stepped backwards into traffic without looking. Those clowns will sit and harass the same grizzly from daylight...

    Vaccine Side Effects

It is pretty regional- the areas that had the required specialty storage available with the initial roll out tend to be Pfizer heavy. We were one of only two places in Wyoming that had the ability to store Pfizer, and as a result that has been the predominant vaccine in the area. Now there was...

    Cold bore Flyers

Same. Sadly, I’m pretty sure my most concentric and consistent loads are with cheap Lee dies, on brass that gets the least prep, with thrown charges that I rarely weigh.

    .223 reloads

I always liked Benchmark with lighter bullets (53gr Vmax was my preferred). Now it’s wearing a 7 twist 223ai barrel, and likes Varget and 80VLDs. When I burn the throat back a ways, I’ll clean it up with a throating reamer and go to the heavies. Those 80’s at 2925 are great cheap steel plinkers...

    What do they want?

15 minutes of fame. Don’t give it to them. No name on media, no interviews of family. Don’t publicize the trial. Lock them in a dark corner of a prison. Let them rot for a while, then quietly execute without fanfare.

ANYBODY TRIED THE WINCHESTER PRECISION RIFLE StaBALL 6.5 BALL POWDER???

I bought a pound of it out of curiosity, and found it worked pretty well. I got good MV and accuracy out of it in 6.5cm and .243 win. ES/SD weren’t great in either. Worked well enough, but didn’t set the world on fire. I think I’ll burn it up on some 7-08ai fire forming loads.

    What was the toughest job

Same here. From about 12 up it was mostly solo. Old flatfender jeep idling along in 4 low dragging a skid. Point it down a row, and load bales from both sides. End of the row, jump in and turn it around and point down the next row. Stacked 6 high. Then stack it in the barn.

    Trauma/First aid kit

I’ve been in the Trauma business for a long time, and my outside the hospital kit involves mostly duct tape. Most of the junk they put in those kits will never get used. They always have sting relief (noticed in photo above). Has anyone actually used one of those? Yeah, bee stings suck. Swear a...

    Student loan

It is nonsense. I don‘t expect anyone to pay for my education, nor do I expect anyone to pay for my kids‘ education. I started saving for their education before they grew their first tooth for a reason. I’m fine with some of the programs already available to provide opportunities for college...

    6.5 Creedmoor powder combo

Don’t forget staball 6.5, and IMR4451.,. I just wish there were a few in that burn rate range described as not suitable for 6.5cm, maybe a guy could buy those.

    Got Covid

Your choice, but it is important to realize there is no life or death decision involved. It takes about 2 months to achieve immunity. 2 shots 28 days apart, then another 28 days or so to full efficacy. Not something you can take while in a life or death situation.

    Ammo Prices/Supply

Sounds like a quality company. Ive got a small shop nearby that has really impressed me. He wont sell bulk right now, and he wont sell to people from out of the area. But he has good stock of powder and primers (all sizes) that he is selling to locals at the same prices he was getting this time...

    Grandfathers gun

I‘d leave it exactly as it is. Take it out and hunt with it occasionally, and think about the people who have held it before, and how that rifle connects you, and to future generations. I’d bet that barrel will last a good long while if shot sparingly. Guns that shoot well to do normal hunting...

    Grass fed or Grain fed?

True, choice at best. Even that is likely generous. Most of what I see advertised as “prime rib”, isn’t. The term has come to be used as a cut more than a grade it seems.

    Grass fed or Grain fed?

We smoked a local grass fed prime rib roast last weekend. It was pretty good, but I‘m not a great judge. That was probably the first beef we’ve eaten in 5 years other than the odd burger at a restaurant. It was lacking the degree of marbling I’d typically expect, but good none the less.

How to put out a grass fire

It helps when the thing you’re making a line around grows to wherever you put the line! Retardant drops work really well on grass. We had one cooking a couple months ago that looked like it was going to take about a hundred homes or so. THey somehow got a bunch of planes to immediately divert...

    Ammo Prices/Supply

I’m in the same boat- I’ve got a couple hundred 223 loaded at all times, and probably have components for another 1500 or so on hand (limited only by bullets, stacked deep with powder and primers). Don’t own a semi auto, just my bolt gun that I shoot at the range and an occasional prairie dog...

Lead Free Ammo performance good or bad?

I find that people who are mandated to use non lead tend to dislike it, while places it is a choice copper is being adopted pretty broadly for performance (or a desire to not feed lead to the family).

    Nice kitty

Its funny that they keep using the word “stalked” about that video. That isn’t a cat stalking, that is a cat telling Him to piss off. If a cat is stalking you, most likely you find out about when the teeth hit your neck, maybe a moment before.

    Hammer bullets

I didn’t take pictures, but I put a 134 shock hammer from a 6.5cm through a rag horn yesterday at about 275. In the crease, out the offside shoulder through lots of bone, racquetball sized exit. DRT. MV of 2875. The Primary wound channel was a couple inches in diameter most of the way through...

    Primer Problems

I’ve come across a few loads that seating depth has made a big pressure difference. I typically start 20 off the lands for Most bullets, and if I feel the need to load them longer, I usually back down the powder a bit, depending on how far below pressure signs I am with the original load. If the...

    OK, who won?

That is really a pretty good description. I guess liking trump or not liking him is probably directly tied to how a person feels about the president of the United States modeling behaviors on Genghis Kahn. GK was a little more effective at getting things done, and spent less time running his...

    OK, who won?

I tried to listen to it on the way to work this morning, but I couldn’t take it after 15 minutes or so. Didn’t hear enough to know who Won, but it was pretty obvious who lost- the United States lost. The whole world is watching, and that was a complete and total junk show, as seems to be the...

That was what I was expecting. I didn’t watch, life’s too short to watch those two clowns argue, especially during elk season.
