Also I was going to guess in the 320s. Meat woulda likely been tough anyway he was rutted up.

    Late-Season Elk Hunt

Bummer about the meat. You should put a poll up on how many pounds you were able to salvage that wasn't completely soured: 250-300 150-250 100-150 15-100 <5lbs

    Red Desert Pronghorn 80”+

It's well past the dry period, what's the official results? Pics are bad, but even gifting it more than I should I'm not seeing 80 gross. I'm always interested in the ones that trick me, but I'm getting under 15" for length. 6.5 for both bottoms and 6.5 total on top with a 5" prong. I'd say...

    Montana is a fun hunt

Stacking up dinks like cordwood! Until a lot of MT residents (hunters, politicians, FWP, landowners) agree it's time for big changes and they have to give up some things, this ain't gonna change. It gets worse every year.

Let's see your biggest ever whitetail

Happened pretty fast and it was a pretty close shot so thankfully didn’t miss. I do remember buck fever for probably hours afterwards though.

Let's see your biggest ever whitetail

Some old old pics of my very first buck. 1983 on the family farm, 3rd day of season before school. I knew it was a special deer and took it back out with a friend to try and get a better field photo after school. Still have not taken a whitetail nearly as good. People came out from town to see...

Biggest buck and elk you have taken

4 elk I’ve taken are 370-372 gross, all from public land – all about same size. 3 from MT, one from UT. My best mule deer came from private land and it’s not pictured below, these are all public and roughly 190” gross +/- a couple inches, from MT and WY. As for whitetail, my best was...

    Gardiner late hunt

Hornstar - awaiting a hunt report on the late Gardiner permit. Did you get that 360 bull, or see any of those 400" potentials? Any helpful tips for other max elk point holders?

Hunting, fishing & trapping in Heaven?

:ROFLMAO: In heaven you'll have a early rifle elk permit every year, with a dozen of your best pals spotting for your giant bull hunt, with some assistance from the best local guides, and be on some choice private land. In hell, you'll be stuck in a general unit on national forest in MT with no...

    Sportsman's Bull on KSL Outdoors

The swarms of spotters goes way beyond outfitters - the DIY hunters have them as well. I’m guessing the angst comes in as the outfitters are often killing the biggest bulls.

    Sportsman's Bull on KSL Outdoors

The memory of writing a check, getting a phone call, and gut shooting a terrific bull to be shared on youtube would be one I'd personally like to forget. To each their own, hope he's happy. It's a real nice bull.

    Red Desert Pronghorn 80”+

Always like a good antelope thread with pictures and arguments. This is one of the first years I've went without a buck antelope permit somewhere, maybe the first time since 1991. I did draw a MT b tag and got a doe with an arrow couple weeks back so have had some fresh steaks. Changed my...

I was just looking back and think i have 8 bucks that officially measured 16 or longer. 2 from WY (rifle), one from AZ (Muzzleloader), 2 from MT (archery) and 3 from MT rifle. A handful of other really great ones in the 14s and 15s from MT and WY. Start and new thread "real 16s". :)

also is that buck's head really as broad as the hunter's chest? Is the hunter a dwarf, or is that antelope the size as one of those wild mustangs?

    Red Desert Pronghorn 80”+

FWIW, I'm not seeing 80 on the initial buck. Not meant to be negative, but I'd never guess it at that. It's a pretty nice buck regardless of numbers. Have it measured and enter into B&C awards if it makes it.

    Red Desert Pronghorn 80”+

Hard to tell, with field photos and .5 lens overuse nowdays. That's not what I'd call short, I'd say 7.5" to top of prong and 8.5 from top of prong to tip. So I'd guess roughly 16. Definately long below prong.

If some of the ones I saw are under, "well under" would be like a fraction of an inch.
