I hunted this unit hard last year(northern end). Beautiful place to be, but a tough hunt! Saw quite a few does and very few(small) bucks. Killed a big bodied mature 3x3 the last day of my hunt. Didn't have much of a rack, but he filled the freezer! The only other bigger buck I saw besides him...

I hunted second season, DIY hunt-first time in this unit. Saw 35-40 elk throughout the week, ended up harvesting a small 5x5. Filled my mulie tag on the last evening...Had a great time-made some new friends while I was there too. Can't wait to head back to Colorado.

Leave the stand there-keep him isolated in one spot where you can keep an eye on him. You've heard the saying keep your enemies where you can see them....Then yank the stand the night before the opener! Sorry about the chitty luck-I'm embarrssed to say I've been there more than once myself...
