Federal .50 Cal Bor Lock bullets HEADS UP

Right now I'm not so sure of that. BUT, next time you go to Cabela's, check out the unique design of these Federals, copper or lead. They are of a way different design, a sliding/expanding plastic sabot and a fiberglass piece on the botttom of the bullet that is supposed to be a better powder...

Nebraska Whitey and one happy hunter!

I was shocked when I walked up to him and saw the mass to tell you the truth. Not that it's crazy thick, but definitely got my attention and respectable! Thank you!

Nebraska Whitey and one happy hunter!

Thank you!!! It was my most mature buck in my life so although not high in points (the taxidermist, a B&C measurer said he'd be between 140 -145 points). What surprised me is (the way he acted all proud on a hill with 2 does, and the yellow bark on his antlers from rubbing trees there) he...

Thank you 12 pointer. And coincidentally, your handle on MM (or 13 if you count the little point on the end of the left antler)!

Nebraska Whitey and one happy hunter!

Thank you. Yeah, ususally something goes wrong with my hunts. Last year had a deep throated bull come to our calls in GMU 61, for me a hunt of a lifetime, but he held up in a swale below me and never saw him, but he got close. This one makes up for a ton of frustration over the years I think...

Nebraska Whitey and one happy hunter!

Me too, that was quite a thing to see when I walked up on him!!! I wonder why that is though. The taxidermist put him at 6 1/2 years old, and I asked if those brows made him a non-typical, answer was no, that non-typicals generally aren't symmetrical. OK then!! Thanks very much, I'm still not...

Thank you!!! I love Nebraska for a few days a year because they sure have a way different kind of cold than we have in Colorado. Humidity and wind with their cold is crazy cold!!! 6 Layers kinda cold.

Nebraska Whitey and one happy hunter!

Wow. I am so friggin stoked about this hunt; EVERYTHING clicked the right way for a change. I took this beautiful buck on a friends private property in Eastern Nebraska Nov. 14th, my first opening day buck in the past 34 years too!!! I was still hunting the edge of a wooded creek when I spotted...

Federal .50 Cal Bor Lock bullets HEADS UP

Hey guys.........I had to use some solid copper bullets in my .50 cal T/C Omega muzz for a special hunt last month here in Colorado (cull hunt in Boulder). Long story short, I had two different types of Barnes copper bullets, and both of them were next to impossible to load. I think the Omegas...

Gunwerks releasing a new muzzleloader sight design

UPDATE...I just saw something new on this that you should check out. I believe Williams sights makes this. It looks identical to the setup I have and you can buy it turnkey (for the rear peep sight, I had to have a shim machined with a radius to fit my barrel and the height I needed to raise up...

    Blackhorn 209 Powder question

I'm giving this stuff a whirl this year for elk. Shot some at the range yesterday and it shoots incredibly clean, never had to swab the barrel once (only took a dozen shots but hey...). Was using loose 777 powder prior to this. QUESTION for you guys who have used this stuff...I just noticed that...

Gunwerks releasing a new muzzleloader sight design

If you're asking me about the hooded crosshair, I got it either thru Midway or Brownells, I forgot which. The manufacturer is KNS. I took a toothpick and some white paint to pain the actual crosshairs to make them stand out a lot better.

Non toxic muzzeloader loads for elk

Long story short, I have a cow tag here in Colorado for a cull hunt in unit 20, which is in Boulder country. So OF COURSE this comes with their special rules, an orientation, a lottery, a shoot ahead of the hunt, yada yada. It also requires I use a muzzleloader in one of the areas and non toxic...

Gunwerks releasing a new muzzleloader sight design

LOL what a rip........with the help of a fella here a few years ago, I went to a hooded crosshair for the front sight and a peep for the back sight for my Omega 50 cal. Total cost was about 50 bucks including machining a height shim for the peep sight.

    Non lead bullets for elk

Hey gang...I just pulled a tag for a cow elk in GMU 20, Colorado (the Rabbit mountain open space cull hunt). Man, talk about jumping through hoops. The hunt is in Boulder country so the folks there get to set some rules that don't apply to other hunts here. The one that I'm concerned with their...

    Colorado CVA Optima loads

exactly right. Colorado here, btw. I put a hooded crosshair front sight and an elevated rear peep sight on my Omega 2 years after I started hunting. Why? Because I had a nice 4x4 in my stock sights the year before, wide open broadside shot, but couldn't pull the trigger. The stock front sight...

Best elk processor on the Western slope

Thanks for the tips fellas. I checked out these and a few more and it looks like the best bet at least for me will be D&M meats in Fruita. Appreciate you guys taking time to respond, thank you.

Best elk processor on the Western slope

I was wondering if any of you could give me your opinion for a good processor on the Western slope for a cow elk. I'm hunting the Book cliffs in Utah private ranch at the end of Sept., and live in Castle rock. Have to return to the west slope for first rifle Bull (GMU 61) in October, so I'm...

Could or Should I Leave A Load in my CVA Accura V2?

Personally, I always unload my Muzzleloader after the hunt is over (if I didn't get lucky). A few years back we hunted horse mountain for a week. I kept some tape on the muzzle, it started sprinkling on the third day and my buddy had tape too on his, and we had different results when we emptied...

Work Sharp knife and tool sharpener

Totally agree. I've been using an oilstone on all knives for 40 years and bought one of these tools for my son in laws for Christmas, then decided to get one for myself, and man it does a good job!!!!! They also have a worksharp field sharpener that I just purchased and it works GREAT as...
