I have not done any research on solar panels. But, how much energy does it take to make them? How long do they last before they need to be replaced? Then, what about getting rid of the old, worn out solar panels.......toxic waste? I feel the same way about electric cars, battery powered...

Not wearing enough orange is not the taking of game. Therefore, I suspect not an act of poaching. Why would you not cut the dates on your tag if you were not intending to use the tag again?

To be simple about that.....If the game were taken illegally, it would be considered "poached". I agree ....Only about 10% of the poachers actually get caught.

Costco used to carry a three pack of headlamps for around $16. They came with a set of batteries. I believe they were put out by Duracell......the battery people. I have not been able to find them for about 3 months though. While on the subject of light......Same place and brand.....led...

At what point is it "NOT" hunting? I sometimes think we have passed the point of no return.

Had two nests on my 1/2 acre at home. Yellow jackets. Ground dwellers. They did not like me cutting the weeds near their nests. Stung multiple times. Cup of gas at night and cover up. Solves the problem.

Has anyone ever read the fine print that we all agree to when we get an app? Most likely tells you right there that they collect data. Solution may be to carry a GPS just to collect your waypoints.

Elkassassin, I believe that what you said was true.......but most of those "shooters" should not be shooting further than about 300 yards, no matter what optics or rifle they have.

Ethical would be very high on my list. I have never been on a guided hunt.

It was just an idea is all. One possible solution. So, the next thought is: There are one wheel pack carriers that strap to one's hips. No strap across the chest and back. Problem I see, is that not all places will allow you to take a wheeled carrier. But, may work where you hunt?

What about a horse pack trip instead? You could still walk in, but let the mule or horse pack all the gear. Just a thought.

The really nice thing about him is the mass that continues throughout the whole antler. The mass almost makes his head seem small.

Had a very nice 6x6 Roosevelt Elk at about 300 yards.......actually skinned the hair off. (found out later). Then, on the second shot....clipped the top of his neck about 1" down. He ran off. But, then, due to his herd of cows, came back....but was about 175 yards. Third shot connected...

I am totally impressed. Shooting that distance, off hand and hitting the "bucket". Well done.

Or, better yet, learn to shoot better. Don't shoot an animal unless you have a good shot. And I agree with Pokes.....learn to track.

You need to keep an eye on the fire situation. Lots of area closures have happened in the past. Right during deer season. Some people have a friend drop them off at the trail head and then pick them up when they return. Saves a vehicle being broken into.

I had a boss one time who used to go to Wyoming for antelope and deer hunting with a group. They would take a utility trailer and it had a chest type freezer on it. Cut and process the meet of all the animals they got and put it into the freezer. Plug it in at night. Everything made it home...

A regular metal garbage can will work. Get a medium sized one. Won't last forever, but if dried out afterwards, should last a few seasons. I expect cost would be around $20 or so. Turkey fryer set up will work also. Get the pot and the burner at one time. Cost around $100 or so. You...

Question: In past years there was an offer to purchase a chance at what used to be auction tags. One for sheep, another for elk, antelope and deer. I did not see that when I purchased my license and deer tag this year. Did I miss it? Or is that gone?

A fair number of years ago, I got drawn for a moose tag in Wyoming. Shot a nice bull.....45" wide. We cut him up and packed him out with a one wheeled deer cart. Took me a couple of days to get home. But, when I took him to the butcher.....508#s of meat and bones. Not counting the head and...

What about mixing the ground meat with the spices and such in a large bowl. Then, spread out some waxed paper. Put a blob of the meat on the waxed paper. Roll the blob into a thin sheet. Cut the thin sheet into strips. Dehydrate as normal.
