    Some early summer velvet.

I think he will definitely get some significant length before he's done. You might be right Jake on the numbers. He may even split a tine or two before he's done with this good water and feed year. He should reach his potential whatever that is.

Arizona Unit 1 Archery Bull Elk.

Yeah, I am at 19 after this years draw. So I will be going into next year with 19. Sounds like I may be still a year or two behind.

Arizona Unit 1 Archery Bull Elk.

Yes, I have the permanent point from the Hunter's Ed Class. As for getting in Shape, I am definitely working on that. Giving myself more than a year to be in the best shape I can, then 27 becomes an option. If I draw it next year, I will be a couple months shy of 50 years old!!! Want to be...

I'm sitting on 19 right now. Would love this tag.

Can somebody tell me pretty close how many points it took for a non-resident to draw this hunt?

FOR THE UTAH GUIDES & OUTFITTERS!!!

Why settle on that guy... there's bucks like that all over the place. And since you asked Nicely ?? people will gladly tell you where the "Biguns" are... I wonder if he would be ok if its just a 3x4 or a 2x3 in that size...

    Same season, different units... experiences?

The Book Cliffs South gets better towards the end of the hunt. If there is an early snow storm in October that dumps a lot of snow then Opening Day might be the ticket but usually the end of the hunt is better on the South End. The deer that migrate to the south don't stay in middle ground too...

Over 3000 Collisions and $1.4 Million

It really is unbelievable through there. Never seen so many road kills and it has been all winter.

    What If...

Whatever. If you don't look at all sides to things then you end up making stupid decisions on emotions. That's all the camera ban was. Not trying to prove any point about using or not use cameras, was asking a question to have a discussion on "Putting the Hunt back in Hunting. Have a nice day

    What Is Long Range?

Slam, I understand you a lot more by this post. I can relate to everything you said to the fullest. We are way more similar than different I think.

    What If...

Your right, people have been taking long shots forever. I do know that there were a lot more hunters and a lot more animals 35 years ago when I started hunting and people were taking long shots back then too. Was it technology that hurt the animals, I doubt it but that seems to be the Sideshow...

    What If...

Why do you have to resort to start name calling Travis. It was a simple question to see if there was a way to "Put the Hunt back in Hunting" according to the Powers to be at the Wildlife Board on their first vote. I am not in favor of the Trail Camera ban and feel that it was a stupid rule but...

When did Technology surpass Fair Chase?

It's Iceman's co Pilot in Top Gun... I was confused too why a lot of people on here didn't want to hunt with Slider, but I saw the movie and he is an A-Hole...

    What Is Long Range?

Long Range for me is: When I KNEW I could make the shot then I was close enough When I HOPED I could make the shot then it was to far.

    What If...

I am all for the ATV Ban. No Battery operated anything. Break out the Horses. No, but seriously I wanted to see if there could be a One Rule to Rule them All to Bring the "Hunt back in Hunting"

    What If...

Remember it's not about whether or not Hunting is a Sport. I too don't look at hunting as a sport. I was curious if there was a broad rule that could govern similar to baseball when technology started to steal the integrity of the game/pursuit.

    What If...

I get it. It's not necessarily an attack on flashlight's as I was looking for a simple rule to cover all scenario's to see if there was a way to regulate without having 500 pieces of meaningless rules that really don't make much of a difference. Example: You can only use a wood bat in the...

    What If...

I kind of compare the evolution of hunting similar to the evolution of baseball. I played baseball during the "Steroid" era when the baseball bats, baseballs, Mitts and Players just got better and better (Chicks Dig the Long Ball) and it eventually got to where anyone could hit a home run and...

    What If...

Yeah, without batteries I was looking at a way to summarize everything with a simple rule. I figured people used to navigate without flashlights back in the day. Would no flashlights eliminate someone from going in to early or late? Would no Flashlights change a persons perspective on how...

Not going to be able to word it exactly but just throwing out an idea. What if the wording in the Utah Hunting Proclamations read: No use of any instrument that requires the use of Alkaline, Lithium, Silver-Oxide, etc. types of batteries during any hunt in Utah. Just looking at the small...

When did Technology surpass Fair Chase?

You guides out there. Do you have repeat customers that don't usually harvest animals year in and year out. They just enjoy paying for the adventure. Or does Paying Money mean Must Harvest? I'm talking the majority of your situations.

When did Technology surpass Fair Chase?

How about 2 Way Radios? We are using the slogan "Put the Hunt back in Hunting" so there has to be a line or Standard for this comment to work. Do we do Mandatory Harvest Counts and keep making rules one at a time until we hit a certain Success Rate that indicates what a Hunt means. 10%, 20%...

When did Technology surpass Fair Chase?

When do people feel was the Tipping Point with Archery, Muzzy and Rifle with the Technology Wave. Of course every new invention is designed to make us more efficient but where was the line... Was it Compound Bows vs Recurve? Was it Inline vs Percussion Muzzleloaders? What Was it for Rifles...

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

I don't have the 100% correct answer. But I do truly try and search for it in all I do. Name Calling and Simple Childish Comments just go in one ear and out the other for me, Kinda like fighting over a Buck or Bull on the mountain by Adults... Yes my earlier replies had some emotion and...

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

I hunt Spike Units with a General Multi Season Spike Tag. I like to chase these weird type of Bulls on the Hunt. And in some very small way, I think I might just be helping the genetics, just a little... These bulls are never going to be shot and they are more rare than your typical 6x6. Big...

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

Bluehair, That is a Beautiful, Short and Sweet comment. I couldn't agree with that statement more!!! I really like using my cameras, I try using them in what I feel is the most ethical, honest way to use them. I honestly have never had any issues with them during the hunt other than people...

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

Another quick thought. I am really close to drawing my Arizona Archery Elk Tag. I want to try and get the Biggest and Best bull I can. Been applying for 20 years. Starting this year, I no longer have the option to use trail cameras. I live far enough away that I may only get one chance to...

My Hunt now without Trail Cams

From what I have seen, this seems like it could be a common situation. Hunter #1 Draws an Archery Paunsagunt Tag and sets up 20 trail cameras (not cellular) in June. He goes down on the first day of each month leading up to the hunt (June 1st, July 1st, Aug 1st) 3 times and gets there the day...

    Muzzies And Archery Discussion

I'm starting to get it, I think. This World wants to tell me how to do what I Love and choose to do... since it's not about the health of the herd which has always been my #1 priority in hunting. It's About control!!! and if you fall on the side that hates the rules, you are against it, and if...

    Muzzies And Archery Discussion

So by limiting technology and shortening the "effective range" of killing animals is the answer? What are we trying to Answer? What is the Question? I'm becoming more confused of what really is going on. I think the real question we need to understand first is "Why do I Hunt?" There are so...

That escalated quickly!!! I guess I don't write very well where everyone understands it as I can't hunt without a camera. Ha Ha!!! My point was I like to be very particular on the animal I get and it's not very often the Highest Scoring animal on the mountain. My point is my success will go...

This is how my hunt will go now since they have set season dates on using Trail Cams. I will still run my cams from Spring till July 31st and the 31st will become the Annual "Pick Up Cams Day". Hopefully I can still get a bunch of people to come with me to do this. Weekdays will be hard for...
