Tough hunt for sure. There is a lot of private property that borders it with hunters as well. Ticks are bad, and it will be a scorcher. Your best bet is to find some oak thickets. I have noticed more deer in the oaks than anywhere else. Good luck.

Did you really say ES3? Are we now making up job titles? There is no such position in Fish and Wildlife. An ES is an ES is an ES no matter how much they went to school.

    Unit 231 Junior Mule Deer

Very cool. Just reading this made me think a few years in the future when my son will be in the field with me (he is 5). I can't imagine the emotions you felt watching your son accomplish what he set out to do. Congratulations to you both.

Eelgrass, are you saying that deer don't climb trees?

    No More Deer Dogs

I totally understand and am in favor of using dogs to recover wounded deer. But doing drives with them to push brush just isn't sporting, at all.

    No More Deer Dogs

I understand what was meant by "1000 cuts" perfectly. I also understand how to use the word "precedence" appropriately.

    No More Deer Dogs

I agree with no dogs for deer hunting. I'd be pissed if I was out in the mountains and I see some hunter running dogs for deer scaring everything for miles while I am trying to sneak through the forest.

    No More Deer Dogs

You can't kill a buck without dogs, or what? I don't understand the gripe here.
