I apologize I’ve kind of checked out for a few months now with us being on lock down I’ve been catching up on the forum. I had a fun year. I took my 7 year old son out here in ID and we were able to harvest a decent 2x3 he was so fired up it was certainly the highlight of my season. We got it back to my in-laws cabin and the my eldest daughter did a school project and helped skin it with a primitive knife. ( we had to run into West Yellowstone to buy an old style Native American knife) it was a good time.

Then I was fortunate enough to go to CO third season and hunt for a few days. It was lots of fun I missed a really nice buck (technical difficulties ??‍♂️) but on the last morning we were going to hunt I connected on this great buck.

The tine... ??‍♂️ I shot the deer on the first shot and put him down but he was still moving and I didn’t want to take the chance of him getting up and leaving. So as he was laying there I decided to put one more in him. Apparently I missed just high and hit the antler ?. I didn’t realize I hit the antler all I knew was he stopped moving. I certainly disappointed in that and I couldn’t find it! Here is a pic of him laying there when it was all said and done. And one when I spotted him.

This happens! True story, I shot a buck in Montana offhand at about 80 yards. Hit him high and busted his spine. He came straight down the hill to me dragging his back end. He almost took me out he came so fast. He crumpled on the other side of an old two-track I was standing on. I had to put another round in him but he was down in the brush below me, so I reached out with my 7mm and at the exact moment, I fired he took a swipe at my barrel blowing off one fork! I couldn't believe it. Good job and nice season.
