Sounds like a throat burner for its age. Is it similar to a Weatherby in terms of round count before accuracy degrades? 1000 rounds or less if you don't boil eggs on it?

Looking at a couple model 70 pre 64s. Plain Jane wood 1 in 257 Bob and the other 264 Win mag. Very nice shape less than 300 rounds each. Going rate?

264 was way before it's time....modern powders make it a great round......modern powders do the same for the bob....buy them both ....less than $900nless you just want it....$1000

Jack O'Conner once wrote about the 264 Mag. Same performance as a 270 but with a longer barrel, more recoil, and uses 10% more powder. LOL.

Up against the wall Redneck Mother.

Same performance as a .270?! I'm pushing a 142 grain bullet at 3350 fps. Where have you ever seen a .270 do that?

I don't think you could have come close to that performance in the early 60's when O'Connor wrote that.....he was a touch biased though...he made his living loving the 270 winchester...

264 is a very interesting round. Basically a old school 26 nosler. Not my fancy much these days with much more efficient 6.5mm rounds available. However I think the 156 grain Berger could be an absolute game changer in that round.

I'll be testing the 156s in a 264Win custom very soon! Should be a hammer! Can?t wait?
