Recently bought a .308 I’m not sure what projectile weight I want to run. Do any of you have a pet load you would care to share with me. I know every gun is different but I’d like to see what your using.

I load for my M1A in .308 and fooled around with lots of stuff. IMR 4064 was a recommended load that I had decent success using 150 ballistic tips. I also shot 125 gr bullets too. I'm now sold on Varget......sorry data not handy, with 150's and it SHOOTS!

I like loading Varget with 168 grain Barnes TSX-BT. Shoots great in my Rem. 700P- LTR 1:12 twist.

IMR4064 and Varget are so close to the same thing data is almost interchangable.....

barrel twist will play...
You know the gun I bought developing soon going to go 178 eldx and probably varget I have a couple pounds to play with.

For sure barrel twist will dictate what weight class bullet works best, if you know it. Sharing that info might encourage the best responses.

150 gr Sierra over 48 grains of Varget. For either 150 or 165 grain bullets, other great powders include RL15, Ramshot and, as mentioned, IMR 4064.
