3B Muzzleloader Elk hunt ?

I have 17 nonresident points this year. The huntinfool description of this hunt sounds pretty good, all though Eastmans gave it a F for access. Huntinfool mentions it took 16 points. I'm looking at the fish and game page and trying to figure out where the past drawing odds are located. Can anybody give me a clue what section of the website to look at?

Also would be interested in hearing how this unit has been in the past, that is if I even have enough points for a chance. Thanks

Last year it took 18 points for a nonresident to have a guaranteed tag. That info can be found on the AZGFD fall draw bonus pass by hunt number pdf.

My retirement property is in this unit......I can't understand why Eastman's would publish that, as there's plenty of public areas. Of course Eastman's RMS is probably the most unreliable source of info, as their inaccuracies are long documented.

18 points. Dang, story of my life always being a day late or dollar short. Or in this case a point short. Thanks for the heads up.

I do archery hunt and have taken a few bulls with my bow, but the harvest rates in some of the top units make me nervous and that's why I have looked at muzzle hunts. I know I do have more options with archery, and haven't ruled it out yet.

I have one word for you. 23. You'll have the time of your life on a 23n or 23s archery tag. As a NR you're not guaranteed a tag unfortunately but 17 would give you a good chance. The harvest rates are kind of unreliable due to the fact people lie or just don't turn in their survey so the numbers are skewed. 3b muzzleloader hunt is good as well you'd just have a chance at a bigger bull with 23 or even 3c or or 9.

I just feel as a NR, that applying for a 23 tag ( early archery) is just a waste of a choice. There is one tag for NR and hundreds of applicants. U could spend your whole life waiting on that tag and never draw. I kinda think this 3b hunt could be good . I had researched it a bit a couple years ago. It kinda gets overlooked. It is a smaller unit though that seems kinda like a "urban" hunt due to the proximity of several towns, Golf courses etc. But like u say, u would have a gun and that makes a big diff in my opinion. From what I had researched, you had a decent shot at a 330 bull maybe bigger. With that said, I would love to have a 23 tag! I'm sure it's a hunt of a lifetime. But it's like winning the powerball for NR

I agree it's tough to draw but if you do draw it's amazing. I personally would put it first choice and hope you get lucky and try for 3b second choice. You're not guaranteed either one so you'd have a chance at either. Next year with 18 points though you'll draw the 3b tag in the bonus pass whether you like it or not.

.....and just to add, I've seen some nice bulls in 3B (330-350" range) as well as 3 A/B. Heck, I had a 350' type bull in my field this past September! :)

Not a bad plan
