A Little Gun History Lesson

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about
20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13
million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up
and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964.. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan
Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million
'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because
of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new
law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million
dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed
robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12
months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety
has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience
and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this in formation.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of
this history lesson.

was ill prepared to defend the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor
attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his reply was that he had
lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all households had guns.

I'm a WWII history buff, especially the Pacific war. I've never seen this (in quotations below) mentioned before. Could you quote a source?

You're preaching to the choir, it's not that I favor gun control or think it would help anything all I said the majority of Americans want more restrictions on some weapons and it will happen.

You can be a realist without condoning the reality of the matter, you just accept the facts. if the best you can do is gripe at me you've already lost, convince the guy in NYC if you want to make a differnce, then present electable pro gun candidates. good luck with that.

you say you support the 2a but you are not willing to stand up and make it known huntin dude. how do you know the majority wants it the anti gunners just are squeaking louder the majority is not the anti gunners its the pro gunners we just need to unite and be squeakier then they are.
we need to make Washington leave guns alone and get on to the work that needs done.

Like I said the polls show, and this last election proved polls are pretty close that the majority of Americans ARE for gun ownership, but the majority ARE also in favor of more restrictions on some types of firearms. those types of firearms would be black rifles and my guess would be any high capacity auto, this is where the debate begins, we can have guns because Americans want guns and the 2nd says we can have them as the recent supreme court decision reflects. so the problem Americans have is with autos and militay style weapons, I'm saying since the majority wants them restricted or gone it will happen. electing candidates to do that is part of majority rules, so it makes no sense to hate Obama for being elected by the majority to do as the majority wishes that's un American. what needs to be done is change public opinion because the trend continues to show the NRA isn't getting the job done on that front, not an easy job when nut jobs use these weapons in 90% of the major gun crimes.

You can only hold the majority back so long in a democracy, some of you think hating and whining will help, it won't. if you have a plan other than hate & whine now would be a great time to get it in motion, the mid terms are in two years.

Huntindude, I assume you mean semi-auto, since "autos" are already banned. I myself, have no need for a full auto. But,the biased media has been misrepresenting semi-autos as automatics for years, probably on purpose. Ill bet a fair number of Americans believe that full-autos are legal, and a lot of non-gun owners are swayed towards more gun control because they think every "assault weapon is full-auto

What you have to look at is what type of weapon is used most of the time is a major shooting or by most scum bag gang bangers, it's not a Perazzi O/U or a model 70, its an auto of some sort. this is what people see and what they remember, and some are dumb enough to think if they take those guns away crime will be reduced. we all know crime will go on with or without autos or semi autos but it's hard to argue they are not the weapon of choice for creeps and it's hard to argue sportsmen must have them. this is why I say you've got your work cut out for you convincing the growing majority otherwise.

Hdude, Where in the world did you come up with the 90% of gun crimes are commited with a black rifles? I very seriously doubt that. Now if you said that 90% of gun crimes where commited with a handgun. OK. Get your facts straight!

However when and where in history has it ever proven that gun restrictions ever took guns out of criminals hands?

The only reason they are going after the "assult rifles" are the fact that the high profile "killing sprees" where commited with these and they can some gun owners that are ill-informed idiots to side with them on this. Zimbo has had his mind changed - of course is was either that or his career would have ended.

Criminals will still comit the same crimes with whatever guns they can get there hands on. Criminals are criminals and it does not matter what type of guns are banned they will still commit the crimes.

They are a whole lot of varmit hunters out there that the weapon of choice is an "assult rifle" they are used by law abiding citizens. Many more law abiding citizens use them for fun. And many more want them for protection.

I said 90% of the high profile gun crimes are commited with a military style or an auto weapon, many are with black rifles and most of the rest are with an auto, and yes an auto ( semi auto ) can be in the form of a handgun. what part of that confused you? you just like to gripe even when you agree.
