Cold rain and spitting snow outside. The girls are hooked on soap operas, and wanted to eat leftover steak at 4:00. Told me to fend for myself. I'm a big boy, and can do that!

A Texas rose in the air fryer from a good Tex-Mex sweet onion, with hot dipping sauce. Gumbo, Tabasco, and saltines for the main course. Since I was waiting a half hour on the air fryer anyway, I built a Dutch apple pie (w/ shortbread crust) for them for dessert.

Super simple, just cut your onion into about 10-12 sections from the root side down leaving them attached. Flip it over and it will open up.

Coat in flour, separating all the little sections and getting it down in there which will help keep them open. Beat a couple eggs and coat the whole thing well, then flour the second time. Sprinkle on a little EVOO (you can spray cooking spray on it if you like) and cook. Recipes vary a lot but I find that 350 degrees in the air fryer for 20 minutes works well for ours, and I set it down away from the heating element. Watch to prevent burning.

Enjoy with whatever sauce you like. This was sriracha, mayo, worchestershire, horseradish, and some garlic powder. I like it hot!
