Important Information for 2022

This list is for informational purposes only and includes the major changes that have occurred since publication of the last regulations booklet. Individuals should thoroughly read and understand the appropriate regulations prior to submitting an application or going afield. If you have questions, please call 602-942-3000. Applications Must Be Submitted Online at azgfd.gov The deadline to submit applications is 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.

Attention Falconers Raptor capture seasons are on pages 27 and 28 of this booklet. To apply you must possess a valid hunting or combination license and a Sport Falconry License. Applications will only be accepted online.

Get Draw Results Online Family account features are now available with a portal account, so everyone — including youth — can view their draw results online as soon as they are posted. Create an account at www.azgfd.gov/register. Please note: The automated phone service is no longer available.

Hunter Harvest Questionnaire Your Hunter Harvest Questionnaire may come by mail, email, or both. Please take a moment to respond. A QR code, as well as a web link, is also located on the back of your tag. Scan the code to access our Hunter Harvest Questionnaire webpage (you may need to download a QR reader app to scan the code). Completing your hunter questionnaire honestly and accurately is very important for management.

PointGuard Hunters may choose to surrender their hunt permit-tag prior to the start of their hunt. PointGuard is $5 per species, per applicant, purchased at the time of completing the online application, or prior to the application period deadline. Go to www.azgfd.gov/pointguard for more information.

Keep Credit Card Information Updated Applicants are encouraged to keep their credit card payment information current. If your payment is declined, your application will not be drawn. The Department will provide notice on its website when the deadline to update credit cards is finalized.

Use of Trail Cameras While Hunting Starting Jan. 1, 2022, pursuant to Commission Rule R12-4-303.A.5, a person shall not use a trail camera for the purposes of taking or locating wildlife, or aiding in the take of wildlife. The use of live action trail cameras for the purpose of taking or locating wildlife, or aiding in the take of wildlife has been prohibited since 2018. The new prohibition on trail cameras does not apply to other uses of a trail camera such as research, general photography and security. For more information visit: https://bit.ly/TrailCamInfo

Coming Soon Ethically Hunting Arizona Course The Arizona Game and Fish Department is launching an innovative new course geared primarily for resident and nonresident experienced hunters called Ethically Hunting Arizona. Successful completion will provide the Education bonus point, specific to Arizona. Individuals are only eligible for one Arizona Education bonus point. The launch and additional information will be online at azgfd.gov.

Tag Modernization The Department is exploring avenues for hunters to have the ability to download a mobile application that would provide real-time delivery of licenses and tags, viewing of hunting licenses and drawn hunts/ tags, the ability to electronically tag your animal in the field and completion of your hunter questionnaire.
