Have some friends that want to go salmon & halibut fishing. Is it to late for them to go? They are looking to be guided. Any information would help. Thanks Mike

the salmon runs are about over for the year. silvers recently began running, but you'd better get here fast. halibut catching is also winding down. plan the trip for next summer instead.

Just got back yesterday. The silvers are in thick and they will stay that way until the mid september. Halibut are also in. The halibut though you are only allowed 1 that is under 37 inches per day. Usually you can keep 2 h-but per day of any size.

The salmon this year is an EPIC run. Has not been better in the past 10-15 years. If you want to catch the hell out of salmon you better due it this year! And there is still plenty of time, but finding a guide will be hard. Most are booked up.

Try the following:

OR

We fished with both this past week and they did a great job.

GET 'ER DONE!!!

I just returned Saturday from a two week trip on the Kenai. The sockeye were running strong and the halibut fishing out of Homer is decent. The limit is still there for halibut. You should still be able to catch reds above Skilak lake on the Kenai and the silvers are just beginning. Plenty of silvers to be had for the next five or six weeks.
