There was a thread here years ago where a member claimed Berger bullets would compensate for poor shot placement. mtmuley

As you said:
1) Shot placement is what makes the difference between tag soup and a full freezer.
2) Caliber/bullet weight & type.
3) Distance from the shooter to the game animal. I leave the long shots to those who have practiced at the extended ranges and are confident in their equipment & abilities to pull it off. I am not one of those people.
If we screw up on any one of those three decisions, bad things happen!
