antelope sheathes

i am trying european mounts on mine and my two buddies wyoming antelope and can not get the stink out of the sheaths. i simmered them off the skulls and filled them up with borax and have washed them with hot soapy water several times and they still have that funny smell. i have the skulls degreased and whitened and they look good just have to reattache the sheathes. any tips to get rid of the stink?

You might try some vingegar mixed 50/50 with water. It will have a vinegar smell for a few days, but should kill any other smell.
